We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. How would you like to see Scott Skiles as magic head coach? I found this article from the Chicago Tribune:

Chicago would never let him go. They'd just offer him more than we could. |

But would it be worth to try to get him? |

Well of course. He's been able to turn around that Chicago team. We should go for Jackson first though. That shouldn't take long because he'll want to coach LeBron most likely. |

Ok, after reading this, I thought about it for awhile, and I can see reasons why this would be both a good move and a bad move by the franchise: 1. The bad - Skiles is one of the most popular players of our franchise, and we have a habit of firing coaches rather than them quitting. Besides Chuck Daly, every coach in Magic history has either been fired or forced to step down. I wouldn't want to see Skiles image tarnished in the eyes of Magic fans if he were to do a bad job and get fired. 2. The good - Once again, Skiles is one of the most popular players in our franchise, and getting him as a head coach could help bring in more of the casual fans and get a buzz going in Orlando about the Magic again. We need this to help avoid seeing the Magic move to Kansas City. On another note, I think the Magic's biggest priority (as slim as the chances might be) should be going after Phil Jackson in the offseason. If we were somehow able to land him as head coach (which would be very expensive, no doubt), then that would generate immediate buzz in the Orlando area, games would sell out, and we'd have a national presence, much like the way Shaq helped out the Heat. |

I tend to agree with trying to get Phil Jackson, that'll prove that the Magic organization is serious enough to make the team a contender for the title and with Howard, Nelson and the Turk still young, Jackson can establish his methodology and personality, a proven coach for sure! |

Definitely Phil Jackson should be #1 Priority. Keep trying for him until he is signed by either Orlando or another team!! Not like last time where they were in "serious talks" with him and then they signed Chuck Daly. Its no knock on Daly since he had 2 good seasons with Orlando, but imagine what Phil Jackson could have done here!! |

no way jackson is not coach who makes the players better he is a coach that will take good players to the championship. we need some one who knows how to make the team better to bring it back to playoff contention. |

I don't see it happening,CHi already has a good young group of core players who don't complain nearly as much as francis. He's talented but he's been way more of a balker than a force out there lately.Other than that i would consider this an above average field of unemployed coaches out there right now.we'll have to see who the magic like and who likes the current makeup of this team. Can the new coach get francis to play like he can,or will francis just end up getting traded. |
