Francis moving back to point guard

SEATTLE -- The Orlando Magic will move shooting guard Steve Francis back to point guard, bench rookie Jameer Nelson and start DeShawn Stevenson at shooting guard, starting tonight against the Seattle SuperSonics --- if Francis is healthy enough to play.

Francis missed today's shoot-around and was having an MRI performed on his lower back, which has been bothering him the past few games.

New Magic Coach Chris Jent wasted no time in making changes after replacing Johnny Davis on an interim basis Thursday. Davis was fired after the Magic's loss Wednesday night to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Francis was moved from the point guard for the first time in his six-year NBA career Feb. 26, when the Magic played at Miami against the Heat, and Nelson was promoted to the starting lineup.

The change seemed to give the Magic some life and better offensive flow. They won three games in a row after dropping the first two with Nelson at point guard.

Stevenson has seen little action this season since arriving in a trade from the Utah Jazz last season.

"You can make changes. Do you have to make dramatic changes," Jent said. "Yes, we need to make dramatic changes."

Well that's dumb. Jameer was doing so well. Although I am glad that DeShawn has a chance to redeem himself. I think Chris could've gone a better way and started someone else though *cough*Hedo*cough*

I'm not really sure if this is a good move, but like Jent says, "we need to make dramatic changes".

Might as well give it a shot, I guess.

P.S. - Good to see you were able to get back into your account, MagicFan3. :)

Jent said that he's not worried about who starts the game, he's more concern on who ends it. he also wants to have a better bench production so that the magic wont cool down when the starters are benched

Whoa! Didn't see this one coming! Might as well try it though. We certainly ain't gonna win with our current squad staying exactly the way it was.

as much as i love Hedo, i know the team performs best when he comes off the bench...
mostly b/c he's uncomfortable w/ starting, and he said it himself after his career high 32 pts in the loss against the t-wolves:
