The EE Lightning page on Facebook is a pretty cool place to hang out with some wonderful photos.
Today a picture was posted of a Lightning with a "false canopy" painted on the underside.

This is the first I have heard of the use of such a device on Lightnings which was first applied to the grey scheme
Apparently XR770 was the first.

Does anyone know which other aircraft had false canopies, or do the decal sheets already come with them provided?
Just thought it would be a nice touch to have them on a model

TIA

XR770 seems to have been the first for lots of things over the years. Right up until that atrocious red spine and wings effort that someone really should have looked at before it got to the paint shop and politely refused. Matched only by that appalling 3 Sqdn Typhoon anniversary scheme 24 years later! <shudder>
