Not posted on here for ages but this is my latest project.
Hobbyboss F-111E . nice kit but the fit on some parts is quite bad . Going to do a F-111 from RAF Upper Heyford. "The Chief"

Cool, I saw that airframe at an airshow around that time.

Not sure if it was Church Fenton, Finningly or possibly Lakenheath, I recall it being exceptionally clean.

Nice Neil, the Eduard sets are really nice, used it on my F-111K version, (basically an F-111A with extras), which still isn't finished due to that God awful windscreen and the fact that the front of the model is too wide...was going to transpose the newer Academy escape module but it's the right width and so doesn't fit ..............pig by name !!
I also added new resin wheels, scratch built the intakes and weapons bay, corrected resin exhausts and the lovely Lock On wing tanks...other than that it's all oob !!, (oh the engines are nice)...

I've heard many contrasting things about both the Academy and the Hobbyboss F-111. What I want to know is which kit is the more accurate? adding surface detail and what not is all part of the fun. But which kit has the most accurate outline/dimensions. I've been looking at picking up new resin burners and resin intakes from dmold and ozmods.

Never been one for rivet counting . To me it looks like a Vark. Might replace the front screen with the Sqn one .
Its far better than the Academy for what you get .

Loving the look of this one. My father lived in Lakenheath for many years, then in Mildenhall, such a massive, elegant beast.

First off, they both look like 'Varks from a model point of view. Melchie reckons the best way would be to combine the Academy front with a Hobby Boss rear end. Way too expensive for me. I've built the Academy kit and added a few bits here and there.

Good luck finding the Ozzmods bits. They were nowhere to be found when I wanted them. Even so, their tanks are still too small and the only way round that is to combine the four in the kit into two proper sized ones. Or use tanks from an A-10. They're about right.

The HB kit's nose and cockpit is out of whack. Replacing the canopy with the Squadron vac is a hard job, ask Melchie. Whereas, it fits the Academy one perfectly. For a couple of builds, see Hobby Boss or Academy.

I know they're FBs but the construction details are the same for all models. The best site for info is here F-111 modellers
