Check this out: Linky

Amongst the new stuff is genuine new tooling, like the 1/72 Sherman for instance.

1/8 Traction Avant...mmm.

That catalogue is really quite depresssing isn't it? It really shows that Heller 's glory days are 25-30 years behind it, and the comparison with Hornby/Airfix is really stark. Shame.

The people that have picked up the reins have only just started to inject some life back into the company. I think it's clear that they don't have the clout or resources of Hornby, so it could be a long process. If you look at the Sherman test shot pics here, it looks like they are adopting a similar attitude to Airfix and if it comes in at a price well below Dragon, then they could be onto a winner. Plus ship modellers will be pleased that they are keeping alive the classic ships line (although the prices may draw some sharp intakes of breath).

personally I think its great that Heller are investing in new tooling, the Sherman test shots look very nice & will probably do very well for them.

From my modelling perspective I'm very pleased to see the re-release of the Scania 141, Delahaye 103 & a personal favorite, the Parisian TN6.
Previously Heller have shown they're not afraid to kit less popular vehicle subjects like the ones I've already mentioned & where else can you get a mainstream kit of a Renault 4CV & one in police livery to. And don't get me started on the glorious design icon that is the Citroen DS.

Yes, I like the Heller range of cars & trucks.
Shake & bake they most certainly are not, but if like me you like to build something a little different & are prepared to `model` rather than assemble they are great.

Here's to a successful future for Heller

I never knew they did the large Traction Avant. Looking it up reminded me of their 1/16 Citroen DS, so that's two kits I've now added to my wants list....

Cheers,
Bill.
