Anybody have one?

What have they actually upgraded.

Worth the extra?

Thanks.

They don't seem to be showing anything on the website other than you get a swanky instruction booklet

Looking at the images and info I'd say it differs from kit to kit.

I understand that the tooling has been cleaned up quite a bit on all five kits and they all have new multiple variant decal sheets.

Beyond that flash boxes and a new instruction sheet does not a €26 kit make!

That's the truth. I looked at the 88 when it was first issued, not really worth it especially in the light of the Revell and Zvezda kits that are streets ahead in any case and are cheaper. If you want a 217 then seeking out an original edition would be a better bet.

Those I've seen have been quite substantially upgraded. The Do-217K for instance has new undercarriage and bays, plus a fair level of cockpit detail. I have this as well as several of the original release, it's not just a few additional parts, the layouts are modified.

The Ju-88 looks like it's received similar treatment, but the Revell kit makes it something of an irrelevance to me. The same is true of most of their other upgrades, the Do-217 is different in being the only game in town,

Cheers,
Bill.

A bit of a follow-up on this. I'd not realised that Italeri's Do-24 had received the upgrade treatment. I found a couple of sites online with sprue shots of each edition.

Firstly, the original tool:
http://www.ipmsdeutschland.de/FirstLook/Revell/Rev_Do24/Revell_Do24.html

Secondly, here's the latest version:

Cheers,
Bill.
