With all the fuss over the Big Announcement, this seems to have passed many folks by, but the Lightning sprues were on view and it looks delicious:![]() ![]() This looks palpably more like a Lightning than any other Lightning kit that I've previously seen. Before anybody asks, the word is that they have no plans to do an F1/3, so you'll have to bodge around with the Trumpy kit, unless they change their minds. The kit is marketed as an F2a, but obviously it would be a simple job to build and F6 from it. You could do the tweaks yourself or wait for Airfix to do it for you. It's expected to be available in 4-6 weeks. peebeep |

Serious error by Airfix! AFAIK the Lightning didn't use the two bladed Watts propellor. ![]() |

Is it a better offering than their 1:48th tooling ? |

Dave, all I can say is that it looks like a very nice kit, with all the right shapes. It will probably be a benchmark kit in 1/72 scale. Hopefully they will sell by the shed load and encourage Airfix to tool up a F1/3 package. peebeep |

I have a 1:48th Lightening in the to-do pile which I will build. I thought it would look good sat next to the new Javelin my Dad bought me. I thought I had a 48th Bucc in the stash to complete the trio, then remembered I'd given it away as a GB prize on another forum. Still, a good excuse for a rummage in the loft though

I have a 1/48 kit too Have been wondering whether to sell it on for a while but never been able to bring myself to let it go! Like my Hawker Typhoons I may just hang on to the wrong scale kit and forgo the 1/72 version |
