Can you build your stash?

I have shamelessly 'nicked' this topic question from the F1m forum; it is a very interesting one.

The simple question is, can you build your stash (before you are called to the great workbench in the sky)?

Multiplying the number of kits I have by the average time it takes to build, the answer for me is yes. Er, assuming I live at least another 7/8 years!

Almost on a daily basis I see a kit or kits I would love to have, but I keep my stash very small because I know I simply would not get them all done if I bought all the kits I would like (plus there would be the question of spending too much!).

186 in the stash (currently), have completed 1 (ONE!?!) during 2013 with 3 in various stated of build so as I'm 53, I'll have a guess and say no!

Normally I finish between 4-6 models a year but for some reason, I just haven't had the time for modelling this year but even at that rate, it'll take about 30 years to build everything in the stash, and that assumes that I don't buy any more, wonder what the odds are on that occurring :hmm: ?

Yes I can, because I sold off over 150 kits earlier this year. With a stash of 75 and a nominal build rate of around 10-15 per year, I certainly can :)

Well I sure need to reduce my stash, I have some big kits to build and at my age will never finish a quarter of them.

Have to go to more exibitions and sell a few. :D

But buy other things like paint/glue etc.

Cheers foxy :coolio:

My stash expands exponentially like my waistline, but I don't care. I haven't a hope in hell of building it and that doesn't bother me, either.

I would need to live till the ripe old age of about 87 with just my Tonka pile !!
Add on the other kits in the stash/ Andys Cupboard / Andys model Shop etc.... and we are looking at sometime early into the 22nd Century

I'm culling my stash at Telford. At the moment I've got to live till I'm 207 to build my stash. Hopefully, come Sunday night, I'll only have to make it to the ripe old age of 123

My current built rate of zero completed models in 2013 means I'm unlikely to build my stash even if I live for a couple more centuries.
I'm still quite happy to buy more though.....

In short, most likely not. When I restarted the hobby a few years ago I painted and glued them together, now after being on forums I've started dry brushing and adding washes. It will be pin washing and weathering next etc egc so whilst I have a good 15 years worth of kits atm, the time taking to make them is increasing.

At the moment I've got about 20 years-worth of modelling plans in the stash, and I have no intention of going until they're all built. I'll need a few more years than the allotted "three-score-and-ten" but not that many.

Mind you, I could well be having further culls next year.

As I haven't built anything for about six months, and have still been buying, the answer is definitely no.
