Hi all, Well I screwed up the Kinetic kits starboard flap and am awaiting a replacement. Not to be deterred I decided to plow into the Avant Garde KFIR in the meantime. This kit is SPECTACULAR in nearly every level (except the way they have you mount the windscreen but more on that later). I have decided to spare you all of the construction detail and get right into the meat and potatoes of the kit....the paint! I am using a new sheet by Aztec decals and while I can find zero photographic proof of this scheme, it is called out on the Aztec sheet. Even if it is not 100% accurate, I still think it is very striking! Anyway, I am getting to the end steps but thought you might like to see where it stands now. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

How does this kit rank in price and build next to Kinetics? I must admit that colour scheme is fantastic. Really, really striking, you planing on turning this bird into a bomb truck tricked out with all manor of ordinance? |

Floyd, In all honesty this kit is quite superior to the Kinetic offering. The detail is far more crisp and the fit is leagues better. The only issue I have is with the way the windscreen mounts. That is a challenge I still need to overcome. As far as weapons go, four 500 pounders, two wing tanks and a couple of Python missiles. |

Care to explain more on the windscreen mounting? Sounds like a really good fully loaded airframe, cannot wait to see more. Cheers for the honesty on the kit. Kinda hard to come by these days as it seems every kit is amazing with no faults.... (edit) the above review comment is in now way reflective of the reviews written here, I was more directing it at magazines and other sites that just gush at flawless kits that turn out to be a moose when you the lowly modeler try to build them. Nearly there!! Still have a few things to do like add antennas, weather gear bays, add weps and secure the canopy and windscreen but it is finally nearing the end! I most definitely over weathered this one but I will say it was a fun process! It feels great to be back in the swing of things after a LONG time away from the bench. This is no contest winner but I don't care. Next pics will be of the finished model taken with a DSLR and not an iPhone. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yeah, but it doesn't trip off the tongue so well I knew someone would pick that up eventually ... Mike, if we all wanted to build contest winners, nothing would get finished! Glad you're having fun, it does look really good (even if it is a pointy plane ) in that scheme.
