Never being one to just build one model at a time (usually 3, but my current projects are rather intensive so just the 2 for now) I present to you my other long term project. This is Cyber Hobbys ace kit of the Bf 110D. I don't plan on adding any real aftermarket other than some canopy masks. I will however add some scratch detail and some pilots. I plan on having the rear canopy open, so some minor canopy surgery will be the order of the day. Final colour scheme will be some form of MTO desert type thing, still working out the finer details of that. The pilot you see is one of my own cast jobbies, a direct copy of the Zvezda 1/48 Bf 109 Pilot, but with some surgery of the arms to get it to fit. Also me being me I could not just leave the cockpit alone, so I have added a multitude of wires and scratch built the map case as it just did not look as busy as the real thing. I also plan to rivet the air frame as I really like the look of a fully riveted aircraft. I have added some airscale cockpit placards and instrument dials I had lying around, these have really added a new dimension to the cockpit, and with that big ol canopy on top so much of the detail will be seen. ![]() ![]() ![]() http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a478/Howlin-Mad-Murdock/Bf-110D/SAM_0115_zpsde8eeeb4.jpg[/img] ![]() ![]() Enjoy the pictures and enjoy the show, more to follow soon. |

Cheers mental. I have actually been working on this bkrd pretty solid. Fit has been perfect in some areas, other, espically around the nose and engine/ flap area have required more filler than I would want to use. However it has given me a chance to use my new Tamiya filler (great stuff for small areas, rescribes like a charm). So where is construction at I hear you cry. Well all of the major air frame components have been assembled, filler used where needed and yes, riveted. Accurately...was intense. Ive thrown a few coats of primer on, sanded and modified where needed. Right now it is just drying after its final round of filler, scribe and rivet. I hope to have pictures of the fully primed beast your way on tuesday next week. So mental if your still reading and skme what interested. For the easy out of box model I would go for the eduard kit. However it depends on if you could live with the tail boom inaccuracy and 99% could. I could not. For a base for a super detailed delight I would go for the cyber hobby kit every time. so Mental to summarize now that I am pretty much at the end of the build section, if I were to build a second 1.48 110, I would happily buy another cyber hobby kit. Pick one up if you see one. |

Hi Nick. Which filler are you using- the light curing one? I don't have any of that. Yes I am looking forward to the construction pics and maybe at some point when I have cash on hip I will actually get one of these. I have to admit the problem with the tail of the Eduard kit has pissed me right off ![]() I have been thinking about it, and have decided I am going to chop a section out once asembled, and then lay in a large block of styrene laminate, leave to cure, and then carve to shape. |

Blimey mental that is some effort. The filler is tamiyas white, cures withing 15 to 20 mins to sandable and I would say an hour to be rescribeable. I really like it. The cyberhobby kit I was lucky enough to be able to pick one up for 14 quid from modelzone last year. |
