Kinetic 1/48 KFIR C2

OK,

Now that I have some time away from Two Mikes and am starting to build again, I chose to start on a Kinetic 1/48 KFIR C2. This kit will be mostly OOB as I just want to get the build juices flowing again. The kit is nice, well engineered and only really suffer from soft detail (a Kinetic tradition). I WAS going to replace the ejection seat with a resin replacement but in all honesty, as it seems with nearly EVERY Mirage kit out there, regardless of manufacturer, the cockpit tub is so tiny that a "to scale" aftermarket seat looks to be about 1/32 in the cockpit IF you can wedge it in. So, I will be using one of the kit seats, either the MB MK.4 or MK.10 (depending on what the marking I am using uses) embellished with belts.

As you can see, I am early on into the build. I do like the full intake even though the outer intakes struggle with fit along the leading edges. Quite a bit more work has been done since these early on pics and I am waiting on my Aztec decals for an Ecuadorian jet to start looking at colors etc. Does anyone have load out ideas for Ecuador? I cant find many images and really want to bomb it up.

Cheers!!

You going to out a pilot in the pit, ah load outs always a tricky one, would go with the supersonic central drop tank, just be sure to extended it as its what 14mm odd to short, a simple fix mind.

Since doing TMR, you seem to have forgotten that's what it's all about.

Have fun mate, and get Colin going with a little Airfix jobbie.

I got a bit more finished over the past few days. Main assembly is now finished and seam cleanup and paint prep will now begin in earnest. The overall fit is "OK" but there is a massive step at the point where the wing assembly meets the lower aft fuselage.

Sorry for the photo quality. I used our cheap point and shoot as the DSLR battery was dead.

Such a sleek looking machine, I must say there are a few ugly mould seams stuck in there, after just dealing with all those in my Viggi build I don't envy your clean up and re-scribe job. You finally figured upon a load-out for your beast yet?

That looks pretty rough dude, but you can handle it. As Floyd said, a damn good looking machine.

Thanks guys!! It is Kinetic so I was pretty much ready to break out the filler. Not to worry, it will be "ok" once I get the seams all cleaned up.

Neil,

I started the Kinetic kit, before I got this beauty! I HIGHLY recommend this kit as it is superb on every level.
