Hi there ..........
I have been waiting for this to come for some time
It was one of those models that as soon as I saw it, I knew it was one that was begging me to built it.

At 13" tall this is a LARGE model but surprisingly not many pieces.
Like all vinyl kits its the usual parts in a plastic bag very little in the way of directions and plenty of flash to whittle away at.

It never ceases to amaze me the level of detail that vinyl gives and I just love the smell of the plastic.

The usual filling and sanding is still necessary to sort out the irregularities and once they have been done its out with the boiling water or hair-dryer to soften the joints as part of the pre-assembly, cooling with cold water to ensure a good fit.

Next is to give every part a warm soapy wash so as to remove any release agents and dry prior to gluing them together with super glue.

Oh that's a pity I was hoping for the William Defoe version. A bit darker and edgier in my personal opinion.

Mute point at the moment H .....

I have to attempt to get the CoG low enough so it will balance?
(Linky)AISI ~ At this rate he will have to literally have lead boots!

Ok so following a bit of deliberation, I suspended G/G upside-down measured the internal volume of his boots with water and then made up a 50/50 slurry mix of plaster of paris and poured it in through the bottom of his boots.

Posted Image

I then cut two lengths of 2mm brass rod, drilled the soles of his boots and slid the rods into his legs down to his knees through the wet plaster.

Posted Image

I also drilled the foot pegs of G/G's rocket sled

The mix will now be left to set

More when its dry

Blimey that's almost scientific...or should that be agricultural... Measuring the volume, creating a slurry.... Looking good either way!

Cheers,
Nick

Well I am not sure hanging upside down is good for his health, let alone slurry :D

But seems to be doing the trick :D

I felt that the rocket wing did not look balanced so following some deliberation, I extended the front and added a neck between the shoulders and head shape.

Not wishing to have a straight tube, I realised that the threaded section from an SES (Small Edison Screw) lamp would suffice and give the illusion of flexiblity.

The model has now been primed and secondary imperfections corrected with Vallejo Plastic Putty

Arggr.. well tis like this .... :ahar:

I didn't want to be oggin the band "Width" an mi ship's cat "Felix" needed feedin

So I'd dropped anchor t'ava run ashore and a ponder ... red, green ~ green, red ?????

I'zz back now an'still cassn't make mi mind up. So Roger, (the cabin boy) suggested we confuse the enemy and have a red starboard and a green port !!!

Dammit I said lets really confuse them

Painting the green scaly skin was laborious, as it had to be built up in layers.
The costume is not finished yet as I have to add the leather satchel and belt
Further work also need to be done to the eyes and pumpkin bomb

I will then have to use both gloss and matt varnish coats
However I just thought you might like to see it before i go further
