Forceps clamp swab ~ Doctor Doctor ....

This build reminds me of the kids song ... thigh bone's connected to the hip bone etc.

Had this knocking about since I got it at Telford 2010, so I thought I had better get on with it

Just started to trim off the flash, so thought I had better let you have a photo

For those who may not have worked with Vinyl kits before, you should be aware that vinyl is a thermo-plastic i.e. it reacts with heat and cold to soften and harden.

Using hot water (or a hair dryer) you can therefore manipulate the plastic to the desired shape before then setting it in the new shape with cold water.

The first photo shows the legs prior to heat adjustment. They would not stand up on their own. The next picture shows the legs after adjustment.
(C3PO's crotch got rather hot and his bits got rather floppy!)

This shot shows that the waist had to be flared whilst the torso had to adopt a tumble-home, which is the inward, upward curve so as to mate with the waist. :hammer:

you should pick up a Chewbaca in the same scale and then piece C3PO to his back like in ''The Empire Strikes back'' Just after C3PO gets shot.

The next stage will hopefully never be seen again and is only installed for some stability.

First part was to measure the volume of the inside of the left hand leg by filling it with water and then pouring it into a small measuring jug.

The resultant figure 80ml was reduced to 40ml and another 40ml of plaster of paris added to the water in a mixing bowl.

Please do not make the mistake of adding water to the plaster - it does not mix well.

once thoroughly mixed it was a case of pouring it into the leg.

Final part before leaving to dry, was to add some plated screws into the plaster mix for that extra bit of weight....

If I find that the model still needs more weight, then it can be added to the right hand leg prior to attaching the torso.

This afternoon I attached the arms to the torso and once the glue had set, I started to polish the surface of the vinyl with T-Cut.

Once dry I then attached a felt wheel to my dremmel and using the very lowest speed, I very lightly buffed the surface to a shine. I then washed the torso and carefully dried it prior to applying the primer.

With this cold weather, I warmed the rattle can in my arm pit to aid spraying.

HELP

Darth Vader has turned C-3PO to the dark side ....... Oh dear we are all doomed .......

3PO black droids just hinder human beings, and are only fluent in Double Dutch and Gibberish.
Can R2-D2 sort him out?

Threepio's main function was to assist in etiquette, customs, and translation but now everything he deals with is chaos!!
