Hi Guys, well im just planning my next build, and its going to be my all time favorite the F14 Tomcat. My query is which kit to use, while i have built the Hasagawa kits in the past,( mainly pacific tomcat kits) im really not prepared to pay nearly sixty pounds for a 1/48 scale kit, on top of which we have all the extras. I have been looking at both the Academy and the Hobbyboss kits, and it seems neither are without there problems, also again cost raises its head with the hobbyboss kit, again coming in at nearly fifty pounds, so what do you guys think should i bite the bullet and break my own budget or can a top quality model be made from the Academy kit. Any help would be much appreciated.

"Antics" had the Hobbyboss F-14A kit for £25.00--£29.00, cannot remember which, IMHO the Hobbyboss kit is the better kit to go for.

Cheers

While I cannot comment on its accuracy I own the Hobby Boss F-14B and the surface detail is exquisite, I have heard that the splitter plates for the air intakes are not 100 correct and some other minor foibles that I can either live with or correct. Overall though, a fantastic looking kit, and well worth it. Also if I remember correctly it does come with a good supply or ordinance.

(edit)

check modelzone, I was in the Nottingham branch on sat and I saw the same kit I own for £34.99. Again, really not a bad price for the level of detail.
