Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious

Mrs PB and myself were wandering around the RSPB Dungeness reserve this afternoon, but as well as feathered avians, I was also keeping an eye out on the Lydd circuit. I was absolutely delighted to spot a S.A. Bulldog turn base, then onto finals, fully dressed in RAF red/white/grey trainer scheme. Missed out on getting any stick time on these at AEF, boo hoo. I suppose I should fess up publicly and admit that my feathered avian twitching habit is starting to get a bit serious.

On the way home we checked in at the BoB memorial at Capel la Ferne (well worth a visit if you're out that way). Got a couple of fly bys from a Mk V that was doing fare paying jollies with passengers paying to ride in a helicopter flying in formation with a Spitfire - no mean feat for the Spitfire that was flying with flaps deployed and much reduced revs. Without wishing to be a wet rag an' all that, I couldn't help but think this is a rather frivolous way of expending precious Merlin hours, but hey, if you're flush enough to run a Spitfire it's yours to do as you wish.

The Spit you saw was HAC's who operate their Mk Vb and their Hurricane XII in these photo flights along the Kent coast. My mate has been on three of these flights and has yielded some pretty spectacular shots you might be interested in:

Certainly something I'd love to do, nothing more evocative than a Spitfire over the White Cliffs B)
