I'm currently building yet another Ju52, this time in an early war hybrid scheme of ( probably) pre war RLM 63 light grey ,62 green and 70 dark green over 65 and using the kit supplied decals even though the last time I used Italeri decals on a Ju52 I ended up using random decals from spares just to put some on the build as the kit ones were CRAP. Now being reasonably smart I also ordered a set of aftermarket decals for the same aircraft reasoning that if the Italeri ones were crap again I have good set of spares to apply to finish the build. I applied the kit fuselage markings and found them to be super thin and reacting very , very well to Set and Sol, so well that I was very very impressed as they started to snuggled down looking like they would conform BEAUTIFULLY. One was slightly out of line so I tried to brush it into the right place but instead managed to lift the thing and ruin it.From placing to ruining to all of 30 seconds. Thats how thin the kit decals are. But never mind .I'll just use the after market decals instead. BIG mistake. I doubt if those buggers will bed down if I used a blow torch! After using Sol and Set and something Drewe gave me that melts linoleum I have just removed them from the model and ordered myself another Ju52 kit from Hannants. My own clumsiness caused the problem but is nothing to the disappointment of having a decal sheet with some interesting schemes that I want to do that are of no use to me what so ever. Ah well , the new kit and it's decals should be here by wednesday so I can finish off the thing and start something nem |

Try using a hairdryer to soften the decals without using solvents. You'll be surprised how they react. THC |

I have found that different decals react differently with different liquids. Tried Klear as I heard it was good and it worked fine. Next time I used Klear the decal started auditioning for the part of the Wicked Witch where she gets splashed with water. Ironically the rest of the batch went on really well with just water! Then there are Academy decals that don't respond to anything. |

I was building an Academy P-47 for a war gaming buddy and used Micro Sol without testing first. Exist one chequer board decal that shrivelled up and melted. peebeep |
