Hi all, Well we're well into July already, and a few have already asked about the L&C tables for this year so it's high time we made a decision and got on with building! The admin team have been chatting in the background about possible themes for this year, and here are the front runners. Jubilee - This year being a Jubilee year, a royal theme could be fitting, and attractive. This could be models with royal names, royal colour schemes, jubilee colour schemes - you get the picture. There is scope for some very colourful modelling if desired, and a wide range of suitable subjects. Things that spring to mind might include a Queens flight aircraft, helicopter or a limo, the Jubilee Tucano, a Prinz Eugen, a King Tiger, a Guardsman figure........ Discomfort Zone - Pretty self explanatory really, make a model that you wouldn't normally make. I make models of most things, but rarely make armour or ships, and almost never a figure or truck; so I would build one of those. Emergency! - Again fairly self explanatory, make a model of an emergency or recovery vehicle or personage. Plenty of scope across all genres, lots of colourful options for those that want them, and camo options for those that don't. So you've got SAR helicopters and aircraft, fire bombers, emergency vehicles, AVRE vehicles, CSAR helicopters and aircraft, search aircraft, lifeboats and I'm sure there must be figure models of firemen out there somewhere.... So that's what we've come up with. We might run a Falklands display as a sub theme if we need to as well but we are keen for you the members to make the final choice, so let us know what you think ![]() Jen. |

strange question, but do you have to be an IPMS member to have a model on the L&C table? |

Floyd, no, you don't. Anyone can display a model at SMW if they are a member of a displaying Branch or SIG. The only thing is that you will not be permitted entry to the halls during setup or strikedown (a condition of the insurance is IPMS Members only). As such, you could either give your model to an IPMS member in advance, or bring it along with you once public entry has opened. Hope this clarifies, Rob ps, as for the theme, I quite fancy 'Discomfort Zone'! Edited by Boffin, Jul 22 2012, 11:07 PM.

Oh cool, think I may well have to enter a model then as for theme, I really like the sound of SAR, some cracking colour schemes in there. Or discomfort, there are some rather large scales out there in which I do not dabble, likewise armour, yet to build anything AFV. |

I would vote for Emergency! I started a Sea King for last years Telford, but fell into a right funk and didn't complete it until earlier this year. cheers Grant |

So, can I assume that Emergency it is? I have to plan my themed building, due to being an "Oh, I fancy building that" planner normally! |

Harriet, as there are no other admins about I'm going to say yes, Emergency! Although there haven't been many votes, so far, of those that have voted, Emergency! is currently the winner. If anybody objects, this thread has been up a month with not a lot of participation. peebeep |
