Airfix 1/24 Sea Harrier; It's a bit of a beast

Hi there!

I've always wanted to build one of these and a chance visit to The Heart of Kent hospice shop provided me with the opportunity.
I bought it for the princely sum of 12 pounds, the cockpit internals had been built but not painted.
So far I've built the Pegasus engine and primed all parts with Halfords Grey.
The next part of the build is to remove the original nose/cockpit section and attach the new Airfix-supplied moulding in it's place. This is the bit I'm scared of. I know that you measure twice, cut once but I've never had to do it before, especially on something so large. Anyone who's had to do this before, all advice appreciated.
Also if anyone has build notes I can look at, again, appreciated.
I'll try and post pics when I can.
Thanks
Chris

It's only a plastic kit! Posted Image

As you say, measure twice, pick up razor saw, cut.

I'm just worried I'll screw it up and have a mega-job on my hands to sort it out.
I live this aircraft and want to do it right.

I don't have the kit myself but I've seen the instructions. The cut line looks as if it's on a panel on the fuselage(?), it should be fairly straightforward. To be honest, everything that I build usually has something that I had to fix because I screwed up along the way.

Cheers Paul.
I will build up the courage to put saw to plastic.
I seriously love Harriers and really don't want to cock it up.

Be brave Noyesy! :)

Chris, if I can remember to sort out some build notes will try and get them to you
There is a good build through available on line as well.

Shaun (Seamus) might be able to advise as he built a nice one a while back.

Edit: One I was thinking of is 1/48

The Harrier SIG have this one:
http://harriersig.org.uk/models/index.htm
but not sure it helps.

will see what the reference books have tomorrow

I've got one of these wating, (well actualy it's the GR3 version which 'll be decked out as 'Lecky' Thompsons GR1, as seen in the 1969 Daily Mail air race...those were the days!!)), so don't hold back Chris. I got the kit from a mate a while back along with all the Heritage stuff, and the mega FlightPath set for the princely sum of £20!!.quite chuffed with that lot!!...the box weighs a ton ...........now got to find the time to build the bugger!

Pictures please...
