I must be feeling sick - here I go trying to do something normal.

We have a themed weekend coming soon at the Helicopter Museum so I thought I should get cracking with a Model
Looking through my meagre stash I pulled out this Airfix kit.

Goldfinger was the third film in the James Bond series released in 1964.

A fairly basic kit the figures come with interlocking bases although in a fight scene.

Ooh Andy - I hope you've got a bucket full of filler - I started them years ago and must finish them. But I do remember having that warning from Maddie before I started, and boy was she right!
Looking forward to this one ...
Good Luck

Filler is right Harriet ~ Oh dear its going to need lots of it.

Looking at Bond's stance - I seemed to remember a fight sequence in the vault at Fort Knox - a bit of research and I soon had the part I wanted

As you can see Bond does not have a gun in the vault so I was going to have to modify his right hand.

Oddjob's hand seemed right to be holding the steel bar so I copied it with my moulding wax and light cure putty

Now it was just a case of cleaning off the flash and drilling the hand to accept the rod

The original hand and gun were cut off without anesthetic (Bond was brave) and the new hand stuck on and the rod attached.

I finished assembling the figures and sanded back the join lines where possible.

Joining the arms to the body leaves gaps for filling and Bonds legs will need some work too.

Ok so while I'm waiting for the cement to set, I need to get on with the vault
A shoebox will form both the storage and the display - the back would need to have a wallpaper
This was made in MS Word and tiled as an A4 and printed with a colour laser.

Next I made a liner with some recycled plastic wallboard because it narrows slightly toward the back, it gives a sense of perspective.

The gap at the top of the box is space for LED lighting and wiring that will be closed off with another piece of wallboard

I masked the side walls with scrap paper and sprayed the base with Plasticote Stone to simulate the concrete floor.

The bars protecting the gold are made from drinking straws first sprayed black.

No, he's just an average nutter from North Somerset Modellers ... And an ex-submariner to boot (and don't forget they shouldn't be out without an adult!).
Andy, I aspire to your wackiness!
