Started this yesterday. It is from the old Roll Call range and is very nicely cast with very little cleaning up to do. I;m not sure about the accuracy of the uniform for the 1882 Sudan campaign as all the references I can find suggest the 19th wore blue/grey tunics and a brown Sam Browne belt. The tunic in the kit is the full dress tunic with all the gold braid which is much more colourful so I shall go with it.

Hope to get this done fairly quickly.

Dry fit only at this stage. I shall paint most of the parts before assembly.

Undercoat now on - all Humbrol enamels. I shall leave for a week now to dry thoroughly before starting to painting proper. The ground work has been converted from the square base supplied to a round one to fit the wooden plinth with miliput.

Looks rather like a Mr potato head 19th Hussar zombie at the moment!

Managed to find sometime today to start the top coat. Base and legs now finished with spurs attached. Also did all the gold piping and pouch belt on the main body, it looks very shiny at the moment so I may give it a light coat of matt varnish when finished to dull it down. I don't normally put too much weathering on my figures as I like to keep them nice and colourful but in this case I he will need some light weathering at least to blend in with the base.

All finished now. I painted the face with olis this morning so it still looks very glossy, this should dull down nicely as it dries.

For something that's less than 5 inches tall, that is stunning.

Well done!

 Nice detail on the map! I also like the texture on the base, the shading on his face gives it a nice realism.
