I bought this kit off Rich, a fellow Locate & Cement member, sorry i dont know his name tag. Had it for about 6 months whilst sourcing all the extras, had to wait for Teleford to see Roy from Barracuda Cast from the USA who brought the range with him as they have been out of stock in Hannants for months. Also bought some photoetched (Eduard) from Hannants.

I am going all out for a really detailed build, i will be using the following :-

Barracuda Cast -
Starboard Cockpit sidewall
Cockpit upgrade set 1
Cockpit upgrade set 2
Seat with Leather Backpad
Flour slot mainwheels
Door with separate crowbar
Wide blister gun cover
Rocker covers with logos

Eduard
early interior (MK IXc)
early seat belts (MK IXc)
exterior (MK IXc)

Wow, each one has its own instructions!

This is going to take me months, a good project for the winter months and Christmas holidays. I do feel slightly nervous as even i think about it.

Started this evening, scraping the starboard sidewall to fit the new Barracuda part, going to have to go to the model shop tomorrow to get a saw to cut the resin excess off.

I want this model to be as accurate as i can and would really appreciate anyones help and comments on anything, bought the Haynes Spitfire owners manual, which is excellent.

So here goes, first pics

All the bits -

Just started back on the Spitfire, been sidelined with a heavy work load but now have some spare time again, spent hours of the photoetched, very fiddly!

The control stick is a Barracuda as is the compass, which i have to add a blob of Klear when the setting soultion is dry

The Seat is also Barracuda, really nice detail on it.

Coming together nicely now, just started work on the Eduard seat belt set, 15 pieces to it would you believe! Very fiddly but this kit is all about attention to detail.

The Barracuda side wall detail is incredible, now to add some oil washes to bring the detail out.

Barracuda interior stencil decal set just applied, its hard to see it but you can read it in real life.
Just have to seal in with clear then a matt/satin lacquer then squeeze it all together.
Added the Oxygen hose which Tamiya left out.
Also the 3 light bulbs on the left hand side are cut from the "bulky" Tamiya piece and attached to a PE part.

Added the Eduard PE seat belt set, ultra fiddly but pleased with the result

Started work on the wings, added the resin blister gun covers which are the correct shape.

Sprayed up the inner wing using Vallejo Model Air paint, the Vallejo leaflet says you do not need a primer, I found out you do after Tamiya masking tape pulled the paint it off. Great paints though, spray really nicely, started using the Vallejo Acrylic-Polyurethane grey primer, which needs thinning slightly
