Now now Rory, not everyone likes the same stuff do they? There are plenty of people who like F-16's, and I would suggest that the point of Falcons post here is to gauge interest before starting a SIG. Therefore, comments along the lines of 'grey jet, pointy lawn dart, and particularly, bugger off to an American site' are not especially helpful - or called for.

Behave yourselves please!

it's called "humour" Jen! :D

noun
1 the quality of being amusing or comic, esp. as expressed in literature or speech: his tales are full of humor.
• the ability to express humor or make other people laugh: their inimitable brand of humor.
2 a mood or state of mind: her good humor vanished | the clash hadn't improved his humor.
• archaic an inclination or whim.
3 (also cardinal humor ) historical each of the four chief fluids of the body (blood, phlegm, yellow bile [choler], and black bile [melancholy]) that were thought to determine a person's physical and mental qualities by the relative proportions in which they were present.
verb [ with obj. ]
comply with the wishes of (someone) in order to keep them content, however unreasonable such wishes might be: she was always humoring him to prevent trouble.
• archaic adapt or accommodate oneself to (something).

Hence the little smily face at the end of it.

Much like this one> :D

I'm up for it! Sounds like a great idea! I have been tossing around the idea for a couple SIG's myself such as the F-104 SIG and the Mig-21 SIG.

There is or was an Canberra SIG so like you Mike F-104 SIG would be perfect too. There where many operators and kits are plenty and even more AM suplly with decals. Same goes for the MiG-21.

As the former UKLO, I had the privilege of administrating Branches and SIGs for the last 5 years or so up until the 2011 AGM when Phil Cater took up the reigns. Generally speaking SIGs are quite popular, although some do cling on with just the minimum requisite 5 IPMS Members. Specific 'type' SIGs range in popularity. Off the top of my head I can name the F-4, F-104, Hawk, Harrier, Canberra and Spitfire SIGs. As a much exported jet, I can see the potential for an F-16 SIG, although as a type that the RAF have never operated (except in the film Independence Day) I might be wrong. Certainly it would make for a colourful table. I would suggest getting in touch with both Phil and John Tapsell (the Mag Editor) as both will be able to help you and get the word out!

Problem is with me working 70-80 hours six days a week, I don't have a great deal of free time.

The whole idea behind this thread is to see how much genuine interest there is if a SIG was to form.

I would be able to build for it and turn up to a few of the shows to display, but won't actually have time to lead the SIG.
