Had a great day out on Sunday at Duxford for the inaugural Sally B and friends day, a first show of its kind. It wasn't an airshow per se, but none the less there was some great flying. It was, to be perfectly honest, a showboating day to raise funds to keep the grand old lady flying. Interviews/talks were held throughout the day with various members of the Sally B crew and the aircrafts operator owner the, inimitable Elly Sallingboe who the aircraft was named after many years ago.
There was a large contingent of re-enactors dressed in 1940's wartime clobber and lots of vehicles and tents set up around the ground, also lots of visitors entered into the spirit dressed up in fashions of the era.

Ken Ellis (ex-Editor of Flypast magazine) was on hand for the interviews and commentary for teh flying, a very good choice IMO having met him personally he is a great guy.

Anyway, on with some pics.

First up the grand old lady, Sally B, when we arrived and Ken talking to one of the pilots

Next up a duo known as SWIP team (Scotish Widows Investment Partnership) flying a pair of Silence twister aircaft who's wing shape is very reminiscent of the Spitfire. The pilots were really nice fellas too, came over for a chat with my son and signed autographs for him, made his day!

Another highlight was seeing some different warbirds in formation flight.
The Beech Staggerwing , resplendent in USAir Attache colours gave a superb display before joining the others.

John Romain gave a spirited display in the Fabulous North American T28 Trojan, he was flinging it around the sky as if he had forgotten it was a trainer and his display was more akin to his efforts you would normally see expended in the Bearcat!

Another rareity was the Fiat G46 that gave an impromptu display
