Afternoon all,

Been on a bit of a marathon editing session and have a few shots from my Sunday at Legends to share. A great event sadly overshadowed by the loss of Big Beautiful Doll, I'll begin my set with a small tribute to this wonderful warbird and Rob Davies, who thankfully will live to fly another day.

And so, onto the rest of the show. It was great to see the Horsemen bring their two stunning Mustangs over form the US, a textbook demonstration of tight formation flying. I thoroughly enjoyed the Hawkers, the P-38 was stunning and the French Fury was mega- the first dive in was insane! Snafu and the new P-40 looked great on the flightline, though I was a little disappointed not to see the latter in the air. More shots can be found as ever on my Flickr

Fantastic shots mate! I think Animal might have to become desktop wallpaper.

Shaun, if you're agreed I could arrange for the shots of BBD to be forwarded to Rob Davis.

Thanks chaps, much appreciated

Paul, do you know Rob personally? I'd be only too happy to have them forwarded onto him :)

I don't know Rob personally but I know his son-in-law and his son-in-law's parents are friends. We know each other through the air cadet network. I'll forward the images and let the family decide when the time is best to show Rob, I'm sure he is probably a bit chokka at the moment.

Excellent, hopefully he likes them. You can see from the pic he was happy as Larry to be reunited with his old mate, hopefully he'll get the chance to fly in her again someday....

That's assuming his wife lets him...! BBD had an engine malfunction last year on the way to Duxford for the show that led to an emergency landing. They might be thinking third time not so lucky. I can tell you he has other interesting toys to play with.

Thanks very much chap :)

Paul, it's my understanding he also owns a Yak-11 and a Harvard?

I've done some more editing and thought I might as well share a few more- it's hard to whittle it down having taken so many shots! Enjoy

Canon 40D body and Canon EF 100-400 L IS lens. Some of the static shots (P-47 and P-40F) were taken with a Sigma 17-70mm, but that rarely gets used outside of the photo booth, I like to use the long lens for close up stuff B)

Just a bit. Looked even better strutting its stuff.

Shaun, if you look at the Anglia news report you will see Rob standing in front of a Robin and Piper Cub that are also part of his stable. The Harvard is currently being put back together I understand, whilst the Yak resides at North Weald.

Got them both second hand, so saved enough for a cheap Kia or similar ;) Glad you like the pics ;)

Paul, didn't it just! Great to see in the air after so many years, my vague memories of 'Hoof' are limited to a pass or two at IAT 95, so this was the star attraction for me at this years show. Sounds great too doesn't it  Ta for the gen on rob's aircraft, it must be nice to have that sort of choie for a Sunday runabout!

Jen, are you heading up to RIAT at the weekend?
