Hi Guys,

I went up to the old USAF base at Bentwaters yeasterday as my wife has been up there helping a friend who runs a firework company and she stores the fireworks in one of the bomb dumps.

took some pics of the Jaguars which are now there , bit sad now as one of them is a Gulf War Jag. XZ356 .

Caroline Grace also keeps her Spitfire Mk9 there .

Went in one of the Hardened Aircraft Shelters. didnt realise how big these were :o
Can see why you can easily get two A-10's in there.

Cheers

Neil

I spent a week living inside one in 1979 at GAF base Husum during an exercise - I have some photos somewhere. They are quite eerie!

I bet a few GR9 Harriers end up at Everett next year as well.

That's so sad :crying:

Are they being torn apart and scrapped? Did any manage to escape to a quiet life in a museum or maybe a slightly nosier one on the display circuit (maybe in SA)?

The Spitfire on the other hand always puts a smile on yer face
