Here's the box:

Open the lid and:

:omg: 600+ parts!

Of special note, track links (198 of the damn things), laser cut card skirts, vinyl 'tyres' and PE bits:

The kit itself looks seriously good and checking out the trackhead sites it rates very highly. The only major omission is that if you want zimmeritt as depicted on the box art then it's a DIY job. The instructions are also virtually devoid of painting recommendations, me being an armour dunce 'an all.

I will start putting knife to plastic later on...

A very nice kit indeed, with interior as well. You could use no more nails and a junior hacksaw blade to add the zimmerit to the hull. It's a good method as the no nails is easily washed off if a mistake is made.

Pete, please don't lead me into temptation, this has to be finished for SMW!

:frantic:

So it might have to be factory fresh. But I will take note of that tip, I had been thinking about Milliput rolled wafer thin.

Damn.

My dunceness is fully exposed, I thought the stuff was usually applied 'in the field'.

No nails it is then.

Blimey, what a bunch of slave drivers. :whip:

Oright, oright it's started:

Posted Image

Each wheel comprises six components, two halves, a hub cap, a vinyl retainer and two vinyl tyres. The tyres scuff up nicely after a couples of swipes with a sanding stick. The wheel in the picture is a test, I'll leave the tyres off the rest until they're painted as no cement is required to keep the tyres on. Six wheels glued, only another fourteen (84 parts) to go.

If I stop posting during this build it's probably because I've lost the will to live and committed suicide.

:suicide:

Quite. I can't believe I'm doing this...

Here's 29 liddle wheels plus their tyres. The sprue gates on the wheel halves are quite chunky and a right pain to clean up:

Posted Image

When chopping off the tyres I noticed that there was some text on them. Unreadable with my naked and poor eyes, but on close inspection this is what you can see:

Posted Image

The tyres are 14mm diameter. Amazing.

Next up loads of little suspension bits, that are also handed and therefore will need to be kept separated.

Thanks for that Rich. My mental capacity/incapacity is entirely down to Vince at the moment!

Suspension assemblies, seven pieces each, eight required. Plus they are handed and the instructions areFUBAR'ed with respect to parts numbering, you get to work it out for yourself:

Posted Image

Upper roller supports, thankfully one piece, but more lower suspension stuff, three pieces to assemble ten required:

Posted Image

I assembled the transom(?) components and attached it to the hull(?):

Posted Image

Apart from the track links I think that is most of the really fiddly stuff out of the way.
