I'm building this for Vince for his display cabinets at Telford. Its the Finemolds 1/35 Type 94 IJA 6-wheel truck. Assembly has been an absolute breeze, if you've ever built a Finemolds kit, then you'll know where i'm coming from. It really is Tamiya quality if not a little better. After two evenings work this is where I am at. I have just sprayed the interior of the cab in sandy yellow and seat red brown, just need to add some details before adding glazing and closing it up and masking for paint. ![]() ![]()

Nice looking and interesting subject, I agree with you that fine molds kits are superb, just a pity they can be rather pricey. Pete |

Thanks guys. @sean, yeah I think I have a mix for the colour, though I guess its academic when I weather down and fade it etc. As long its a sandy/khaki sort of colour, its hould be in the right ball park. I added a wash and scratches to the interior plus the small decal for the dashboard. Here are some pics before I close it up and start spraying. I masked the door windows from the inside as there are no window section on these, just the rear quarterligts and the back panel as well as the windscreen of course. I need some info on you armour guys about best to paint it, does preshading work well on armour? and if its a sandy colour would it be best to preshade with a dark brown rather than black? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looking good Mike. Preshading works well with armour and should work well on the truck. A dark brown is usually best for the colou your will be using. Another method instead of preshading is to us e a dark brown as a primer coat then add your top layer of paint. I have used this method on a few tanks which have a desert scheme and it works well as you get some great tonal variation. |

Thanks Steve, I may give the brown primer trick a go then, I have a large bottle of Tamiya XF-10 somewhere. |

Yep what Steve said, sometimes I will pre shade an armour model especially if it's a light colour like your truck will be. Look in good by the way! |

Thanks for the input. I reckon i'll shoot some brown in a patchy primer/preshade finish before building up the main lighter colour. I'm guessing the darker areas like undersides and recesses will be best to remain darker with the preshade, to give the illusion of shadows etc? I have a feeling this is going to be a bit of a learning curve for me. |

Yes the undersides can be sprayed a dark colour, depends on how much weathering you intend to add later. If you are going for a light layer of dust then a dark colour will work well, if it's going to be quite heavy then it does not really matter as the later weathering will be the main focus not the underlying colour. |

Thanks for th input guys, she now has paint on (why are military machines always of the female variety? ) and I went with a preshade of Tamiya Flat Brown. Then mixed up the Khaki/Sand colour from various paints including Gunze Sandy Yellow, Olive Drab and Dark Earth.I now intend to gloss it up, decal it and add some more weathering in the form or washes/pigments. All comments, suggestions and criticisms welcomed ![]() ![]() ![]()
