I am working on a 1/48 F15C. Can someone aim me at the instructions for doing the small lines. I know it is a wash of some kind but not sure how to do it. Cheers Polarbear

If you're talking about accentuating panel lines... paint camo/ main coat .. after decalling, seal the paint then with either an oil wash, or better still, something like Promodeller wash(black/ dark dirt), slather it all over like a black paint coat and allow to full dry afterwards , with a moistened wad of kitchen roll , gently remove the wash, any remaining wash will have deposited itself in the recessed panel lines Once satisfied, seal it with a flat coat |

I'm not sure which F-15 you are working on, but one thing to consider is to draw the panellines with an pencil. You know the refill ones. not too hard and once done drawing all the lines varnish the model than decals and final varnish and you have the lines in. Works best with resessed lines otherwise as Phantom is saying.

Thanks guys. It isnt the recessed lines I am worried about, it's the other ones that stick up. The kit I am working on is an F15C Revell Monogram 85-5823 that I got at a yardsale for 50 cents. All the parts were still sealed in the bags. That was a nice buy. Unfortunately the decals are not very good. Poor detail.

Ah raised panel lines, it's rather old then The only alternative is a total rescribe, or a VERY gently sanding to reduce the prominence of the raised lines |

You could try the old trick of spraying the raised panel lines with a black layer, pretty much like you would pre-shade. Paint as normal, either totally obscuring the black or leaving as a pre-shade area. Then VERY GENTLY, with fine wet and dry rub along the tops of the panel lines until the black shows through the camo colour. This can look incredibly effective, and saves re-scribing, which can be an absolute pain in the a***e. rich |
