At the end of the IPMS Barnet show I found myself in possession of some lost property belonging to Ray Scott Thomas, the man behind the delightful 1/24 Vintage Fighter Series kits. Having promised to get Ray's stuff into the post I then proceeded to fail miserably - but after a conversation with Mrs PB it was agreed that a Sunday afternoon ride to West Mersea where Ray lives would be in order. In exchange for the lost property Ray very kindly gave me this: ![]() I'm assuming this is a new product range for VFS to complement the kits. The figure has some pinholes that have been filled and has been primed, but there are still one or two to deal with. Ray tells me that he will be using different resin for future castings in order to reduce this problem. It will be easy enough to fix with some cyano. The real challenge will be painting, 'cos I'm a dunce at doing figures. OK, I'm a dunce at painting, but a real dunce with figures! The figure looks nicely sculpted with good detail in the battle dress and Irvine jacket. I need to find some pics of Dave Schilling to compare the face and to get colour references. More later. peebeep |

I did some tidying up, then a coat of Mr Surfacer and decided to turn the casting block into a base. Some PVA was brushed onto the base and dusted with a little bit of fine sand to give some texture:![]() peebeep |
