Been experimenting with Lifecolor this week, and so far am liking what I'm finding. Huge range, sprays well (and predictably), dries tough (with and without primer coats), smooth and thin coats, and cleaning the brush is easy with none of the crappy gunk I get from Xtracrylix. Big pots too. . 22ml. I'll never enjoy acrylics as much as enamels or lacquers, but I continue to search for an acrylic solution I can live with and adapt to, this seems the nearest. I have used their own thinner which works fine, but all of their components are alcohol free, which means it's easy to get beading and spattering because of surface tension. Tried with Xtracrylix thinner which is alcohol base. . mixed fine, sprayed well and the alcohol breaks the surface tension and limits beading or spattering. More as and when but looking good so far. |

Have you tried the Revell Aqua Coliur range? Not a huge range of colours but I really like them and the spray very nicely. THC |

I'm a big fan of Tamiya and that forms the majority of my paint stocks. However, at the Gloucester show last week I bought a couple of pots of Gunze Aqueous acrylics and I'm hooked - I will be buying more. Thinned with distilled water the RAF Dk Sea Grey I sprayed on a Hunter this week went on beautifully and looks great. Just masking for the green now. Quite a large range and authentic (in the sense they are called eg "Dark Sea Grey", "FS whatever it is Gunship Grey", etc). MDC carry them, which is whom I bought mine from, and no doubt others do too. HTH, |

Lifecolour for me. Their paints are exceptional to spray in my opinion and i will be gradually be moving over completely to their paints. Should you ever do brush painting then Vallejo Model color is by far the best paint i have used with a brush. |

I'm a tamiya man myself, I find it great paint to spray, brush painting takes work but it can be done, ie thin coats, acrylic flow enhancer, and never paint the same bit twice when wet. I also find X20a easy to make, ie 5 lites of IPA and 4 litres of distilled water costs me about £24 (including postage) and makes enough X20a that Tamiyas own stuff would cost me nearly £200 (with out postage!) Just realised I can put the flow enhancer in that at mixing as well. Dave |
