Thought these may be of interest: Spitfire AB188 sponsored by the Forestry Commision, lost on 22 January 1942 whilst assigned to 609 Sqn. its Belgian pilot, Flight Lieutenant Jean (‘Pyker’) Offenberg DFC, was killed in a mid air collision over Digby, Lincs. That looks like a 'c' wing alright. Vc's are usually associated with tropical filters, so pictures like these are comparatively unusual. Also of interest is the distinctly soft edged camo - that would get an interesting discussion going in certain circles! Thanks for posting Mark. peebeep |
