Not a tip yet but when this question is answered it may as well stay in here? I'm looking for some stretchy/elasticated thread - I know a few of you will have used something similar for aerials - what's it called and where does it come from? Merry Christmas |

I think this is the stuff I am using... very simple to use, and great for clumsy fingers once applied ![]() http://www.aeroclub-models.com/p.html?n=1&c=ART003 Karl. |

I think you can get a very similar thing in John Lewis, not sure exactly though. Karl. |

I've got the same stuff as Karl, the Aeroclub Lycra Rigging Thread. Bought it at SMW about three years ago - kind of thing I use once in a blue moon. I can let you have 3 metres say just to shut you up PM me with your snail mail if you want it and I'll stick it in an envelope and get it off to you ASAP. Cheers Al. |

You ought to be able to get Lycra thread at the Hobbycraft in Basildon. If not there, then off a haberdashers stall at the market. Mind you, Al's 3m would be worth a good few models. peebeep |

Mailed the thread this morning Gary. You haven't said what you want it for, but a tip for using it (if you haven't used it before) - apply a tiny spot of liquid superglue to the first attachment point, then dip the end of the thread in Accelerator and touch it to the superglue - it will set instantly and should bond very firmly (so make sure you get it right!!). Repeat for the other end (or intermediate attachment points which is the method I prefer with as long a run of single piece of thread as I can get away with.) THT = Edit - I meant HTH - Duh!! Cheers Al. |

Many thanks Al and cheers for the usage tip - no never used it before. I'm using it on a Lightning intake cover - I made one recently and used cotton but it was a pain to get the length bang on. The stretch should give me what I want...see below of last one... ![]() |
