To go with the Half-track I am going to make a simple base and add a couple of figures so as you get a sense of scale to the whole thing.

First the base, this was quite simple to do and was originally intended asw a desert base. First i took a picture frame and covered the glass in Pva glue, once the glue had dried i scored the dry glue. The dry glue gives a surface for the filler to stick to. I masked the sides of the frame then covered the glass area with basic wall filler. Then i covered the wall filler with sand and allowed to dry.
i wanted to do a dirt track with grass either side, i therefore airbeushed the trach area with Tamiya Flat Earth and the grass areas olive drab.To add tonal differences to the dirt I dry brush the raised areas with various browns before addin some Mig pigments. the grass was covered in flock and that was it.

The figures were up next, I opted for a couple of figures playing baseball during a restbite from battle. The figures are by Verlinden. they were painted using lifecolour USA ww2 uniform paint sets. The faces were painted using Lifecolours Flesh paint set. The paint set consists of two base flesh paints, two highlight flesh paints and two shadow flesh paints. First i airbrushed on the lighter of the two base flesh paints as the other is used for guys with suntans. When this was dry I mixed some of the base colour with 50% highlight colour and a good drop of thinner. This was applied to the areas of the face that catch the light, like the nose and chin. I did the same with the shadow paint only adding this to the shadow areas of the face. Finally I added some red paint to the base flesh paint and painted the cheeks.
