I think troffa's pulling plonker mate! ;)

I must admit a figurine of AH, albeit in 54mm scale, would not be high on my list of 'must have's', although I suppose it might go with any 1/32-35 armour or car models of the period, or a diorama.

Sorry, can't help with the painting either!

sorry but I don't do figures, but if I did do them I would be happy to do Hitler for you.

<start rant> :adolf:

This is not aimed any anyone just a view on the subject matter

I can't see why doing an Adolf Hitler should be a cause for concern, is it not a bit hypocritical when modelling Nazi soldiers and Nazi symbols is part and parcel of WW2 military modelling and I doubt there would be any such qualms about modelling other, equally evil, historic figures such as Stalin or Saddam.

I find it amusing that some concerns are being raised about modelling Hitler as maybe somehow insensitive... yet mention the remaking of the classic Dam-buster movie were they intend to change the name of guy Gibson's dog 'nigger' and I predict an avalanche of complaints suggesting that not only was the dogs name a historic fact but that it was also the code name of one of the dams, so it should be acceptable...

well by the same token Hitler existed and is a historical fact of WW2 and as such should be a suitable subject to be modelled... It should not cause any concern unless it was to be used in some way to praise or glorify the man

That is a very fair point Séan. I guess some of us draw a sub-conscious line in the sand which we wouldn't cross. As I said above, in a historical context say a diorama or vignette, I would feel OK about it, but a figurine or bust would leave me with the same feeling as troffa. I couldn't imagine that Airfix would have ever considered Adolf Hitler or Josef Stalin as candidates in their 1/12 figure series! But you're right, such thinking is somewhat irrational really.

I remember a couple of years ago somebody posted on ARC pictures of a vignette that portrayed an SS execution, complete with a shooting and bodies laying in a pit. I found it an enormously powerful piece of modelling - some might call it art - but it polarised views about 50-50, some being outraged whilst others felt it was a legitimate piece of work that people should view.

Interesting, I've seen many diorama involving dead soldiers but not many with dead civilians and none in the act of being shot... I can see how it would be borderline macabre.

Forbidden Planet a few years ago had a Action Man type figure with accessories of Adolf Hitler, I often wondered why someone would want such a thing... but I could see many reasons for having a 54mm figure, I mean some of the more skilled modellers could convert it to standing pose with his pants around his ankles or such....

Well,if you, guys MUST know,i had in mind something rather CONTROVERSIAL, involving Hitler and a DALEK !! :adolf: <_<
The Vignette would have been titled,"Who inspired Who ??"
Terry Nation,(the creator,of the Daleks),actually quoted;-
"i based the idea,of the Daleks,on the SS,& the Nazis" !!
Or is that TOO controversial an idea ??
(&,no i do NOT,in any way condone the Nazi atrocities...)
Cheers,Bazza.

That would've been a good essay for my son Andy when he was doing his media degree. I don't think it's an inappropriate subject for a model vignette in the least.

He tries to convince a 'certain' Politician, that they are not what they seem.....
Hope i ain't given TOO much away ?? <_< :P
