Hi, I tend to agree with using Milliput for the big stuff, re contouring areas, (intakes, adding new fuselage sections, etc), adding fairings, lumps and bumps, so on... Use Mr Hobby liquid putty and Mr Surfacer 500 for almost everything else...wonderful stuff.. Mr Hobby tube putty for the medium sized seams and holes.. and Green Stuff for large scale seam filling.. Oh and plenty of water!! (Tried superglue but couldn't get on with it... other than sticking bits together .Melchie.... |

We had Bob and Chris from MDC over at our club night last Thursday and they brought some new products with them. One of the new items was a two part epoxy filler from Mr Hobby, which Bob referred to as 'Space Age Milliput'! It's available in 2 grades, fine and super fine. Very useful looking stuff, much finer than Milliput (more akin to chewing gum when workable) and without the tendency to stick to your fingers. I will be picking some up off of them (probably at Cosford) and will write up a proper review once I've used it in anger. Cheers, Rob M. |

Orange or Purple boxes, correct? This stuff is a Polyester Two part putty. I use it for reprofiling spoilers, side sills and front bumpers when building Tuner style vehicles. I have an aquaintance who built an entire Veilside Supra body using the stuff. Simply put it is superb in this application. I would not however recommend it for small area filling as it is difficult to key to plastic in that kind of application. Btw I bought three boxes of each at the Lincoln show at Southwell and I'm needing more! THC |

I like the sound of it, but if it's the same stuff that Emil bought at Model Kraft then it's pretty durn expensive, although it's always the case that you pay for what you gets. peebeep |

That's the stuff! About £8 a shot if I remember correctly, so yes expensive but indeed you do get what you pay for. Cheers, Rob |

How does it compare to the Tamiya 2-part stuff? Sound similar to me both in terms of consistency and price Rich |

I found the Pro-H (Purple) remained flexible and workable longer than Tamiya Epoxy Putty Smooth. The Orange box Pro-L seems to cure a little faster but is more able to hold a sharp edge. THC |

On the subject of value for money here's a little comparison for you. First a box of Tamiya Epoxy Putty Smooth Finish: ![]() Now Mr Hobby Pro-L: ![]() And Mr Hobby Pro-H: ![]() And a final section shot top the Pro below Tamiya: ![]() The Tamiya one cost around the same money as the Mr Hobby. I know which one I'll buy in future. THC |
