This thread is created to reduce the amount of repeated questions for the newer members of this community. If your question isn't answered here, let me know, and I'll make sure it gets added.

I'd like to encourage everyone to check the forums before posting a question, as more often than not, it's already been asked and answered. Also, be sure to read the Forum Rules, as some questions have been covered there as well.

Can I put a signature on my posts?

Yes, you are more than welcome to attach a signature to your posts, up to 500 characters in length. You can use this to feature a quote you like, or a link to a website, etc. However, signatures can not contain images, banners, etc, as these slow down the board for our dial-up users. Text only.

What are those names/titles under my username?

Those are the poster level designations. Every time you post, it's number is logged under your username in the left hand column of the page. When you've posted a certain amount, your level designation changes, and you're "promoted". The current post levels and titles are as follows:

1-24: New Member
25-999: Jon Fan
1000-1499: Celebrity
1500+: Board Elder

With each new title designation, you increase the length of the blue bar displayed under your username. New titles and levels may be added in the future if there is need or interest.

I want to send a letter to Jon. What must I do?

At the moment, all fan/art requests can be directed to me in the Member's Only, "Jon's Swap Shop" thread. Depending upon the nature of the request, I may just accept and answer it. You never know.

Where did my post/thread go?

Many times, posters create threads in one forum that are better suited to be in a different forum. If I see this, I'll probably move it.

Sometimes people post information that has already been posted by someone else. If this happens, I'll usually merge the two threads into one, and allow the one that was either started first (or has the most replies) to remain as the single thread.

The forms on the board could also be purged from time to time. Every so often, I'll go through back pages and delete older posts, locked posts, and other posts now gathering dust. I'll usually leave posts active until no one reads them anymore.

I also delete spam as soon as I see it.

Deleting threads not only keeps the board neat and clean, but it also makes room for new threads, and reduces the bandwidth this board uses. It also helps to insure that the board stays around for you to use as often as you choose!

I found an article about Jon. What do I do?

If you have an article about me or my work that is not already on my website, feel free to email me at wlc540 at yahoo.com (just be sure to use the "@" symbol). You may also mention the article in the "Jon Baas Chat" or "General Discussion" forums of this message board.

The board is really slow/ not working properly/ looks weird. What's going on?

Every once in a while the fine people at ZetaBoards conduct maintenance on their servers, just to make sure everything is operating at peak efficiency. Or, *I* might be doing some sort of update work myself. If this happens, it might cause the board to slow down. Your best bet is to take a break, and come back when the board work is finished. You can also try refreshing your brower, or restarting your computer.

What are those little smilie things in posts?

Those smiles and silly little faces are called emoticons. When you're posting a new thread or adding a reply, there is an option to use emoticons. They're located in the box are marked as "clickable", which means to use them, all you need to do is click your mouse over them, and they will be inserted into your post wherever your cursor is. There are also quite a few smilies to choose from that are not clickable. To see those, just click on the link called "Show All" at the bottom of the emoticon box. A window will pop up displaying each, along with the correct codes to use them. Simply type the code exactly as it appears, and the smilie will be displayed when your post is submitted.

There is a limit to the number of emoticons that can be used in a single post, so please don't overdo it!
