In Basque, the name Ainhoa means- refers to the Virgin Mary. In Spain, many names were originally places of apparitions of the Virgin Mary. The name would be Maria de (of) Guadalupe, Maria de Lourdes, Maria de Montserrat, María de Ainhoa... This also happens with some names of saints: Francisco de Xavier, Francisco de Asís, Santiago de Compostela ...
