Character Details

Name: Ray “Zero” Oakley
Race: Therian (Cabbit)

Appearance: A young man about 5’5” with an athletic build, black fur and yellow, cat-like eyes. He has long, white-pointed ears that hang down from the top of his head, the one on his right drooping over his right eye and the other down the side of his head. His face is cat-like, but without whiskers, and there is a white spot in the middle of his forehead. His chest, palms, paw-like feet, and poofy tail are also white. Wears a royal purple blazer, black and purple tie, tan pants, a white dress shirt, a lavender scarf, a black knit cap, and white sneakers. A patch resembling a lavender rose with a skull in it has been sewn onto the blazer, over the spot where his school’s logo should be.

Personality: Ray generally keeps to himself unless he has something to say, although once you get him talking it’s generally considered worth the wait. He approaches most situations with trepidation, expecting things to go downhill with little provocation. He trusts his friends to have his back in such situations, and most others not to simply stab it at the first opportunity, although he tends to think someone’s working some angle.

His main concern in a tough situation is to avoid getting hurt, if not running away entirely. This mostly involves trying to talk prospective opponents down so they will at least not hit him as hard, and he is willing to lie or bluff his way to this end but he otherwise has a code of ethics he sticks too. At the very least, he doesn’t want to get into trouble with anyone else in the process, and he sure as Hell won’t abandon his friends.

Once stuff starts going down, he will tend to be cautious as he tries to maneuver out of a situation. In a fight, he considers himself at a disadvantage and is very willing to fight dirty just to survive. If things aren’t going his way, he will complain very loudly and may even berate the situation itself for being so unfair, then kick it in the nuts and hide. Oddly enough, he will often attempt, in the process, to distract enemies from friends, although he’ll never volunteer this duty beforehand. He can be a little panicky, but sometimes this works to his advantage.

History: An orphan, Ray ran away from his foster home to live on the streets. He started selling drugs to make ends meet and managed to build himself a cozy little shelter in a back alley. When the Lavender Rose started up the first thing they did was shut him down. In trying to talk them into letting him continue his operation, he let slip that he had nothing else to do and nowhere to go, so Crisis made it a point to drag him to school every morning. She proved to be a very aggressive tutor, and it wasn’t long before they were operating at the same grade level.



Battle Data

Battle Style: He’s not afraid to fight a little dirty to gain an advantage, including low blows, debris to the eyes, and biting and scratching his way out of holds. Ray doesn’t carry a weapon, but he does know magical curses that can debilitate and shut down enemies.

Special Techniques and Equipment

  • Frost Bite: By bringing down the temperature of the air around him, he can cause Ice damage with his attacks at a noticeably greater level than his normal attacks alone. This is not limited to bites, either.
  • Ability Freeze: A seal formed with frost. This prevents the victim from using the last Special Technique they used during their last turn, often along with other abilities based on that ability, sometimes freezing limbs in the process. Melts after three turns. Can be stacked three times, but only once per technique.
  • Ice Shield: Instead of attacking, Ray may create a barrier made of ice that can block any one attack that does not specifically ignore, penetrate, destroy, or otherwise negate defensive abilities.


Union Technique: Annoying Coward
By attacking or otherwise drawing attention to himself, Ray compels his target(s) to focus their offensive efforts towards him until the end of his next turn. Even if they don’t, his distraction tends to make their attacks less effective.

Ultimate Technique: Ice Palace
By slamming his palm against the ground or other surface, a wave of ice quickly spreads out across all surfaces in a twenty-meter area. All enemies caught in the wave become Frozen for one turn, rendered entirely immobile. Afterwards, they cannot be immobilized again until the end of their next turn.
