I had an interesting thought.

If both Kasumi and Ayane were cloned, should the clones also be consider sisters? Also,
should Ayane's clone be considered the sister of Kasumi proper (and vice-versa)?

techically (genetics) yes, but either or could object to being siblings.

these are forums pixel, meaning your free to speak as you'd like (so long as it's not distastefull).  :)

if i could clone a ninja, i'd clone ayane.....because i'd be insured that she'll forever have my back in any scenario.

Agreed. If there's anyone I want cloned for me, it's Ayane. Not in a creapy sense, of course. It would just be handy to learn Ninjutsu from a ninja. That's all. Really. That's it.

Why Ayane?

Because Ayane is one of those types that would kick tail, not whine about how they don't want to hurt the person attempting to beat their face in.

I doubt any video game ninja would be overly willing to share their secrets. The
impression I get of the ninja arts from popular media is that if a ninja ever tried to
teach an outsider their particular brand of ninjuutsu, such an act would endanger them
both.

Steely resolve versus a tender heart. I suppose each has its pros and cons.

Except you take ONLY Ayane. Then there are no other Ninja, and she has to pass on the style(Ninja aren't much for having their stuff just die off, from what I've read)

Now how's THAT for off-the-wall thinking?

Something just occurred to me.

While basic physical athletic skill may be (at least partly) attributed to
biology/physiology, the specific details of something like ninja arts would have to
be learned. Especially the complex types of movements that are idealized in
fighting games.

Unless DOATEC figured out how to extract such techniques from any of it's captive
ninja, the whole idea of cloning a ninja master to get one will begin to fall apart.

In other words, cloning Ayane for her ninja skill without already knowing the techniques
would be pointless, if the original cannot or will not teach them.

Perhaps that's why Kasumi's clone is so easy to beat in DOA2.

or an induced method of "visual replication". basically the clone can learn at a rapid state just by watching its counterpart's movements/actions.

this could be reasoning as to alpha-152's insane speed/priority.

I'd thought of something similar to that blueboy. You could make that arguement.

I don't recognize the character reference in that last line. Is it a post DOA2 (story timeline wise) reference?

If only "visual replication" as you called it could help me play the game better. :hmm:

Actually, by watching other players fight online, you CAN learn how to play better.

I have an idea Victor. You can clone Ayane, and I'll clone Kasumi. Then we can teach
them how to play video games and fight each other on Xbox Live.

Oh wait, it would never work. I don't have Xbox Live. :hmm:

I don't even have broadband, meh.

Oh well, it was a nice thought.

Incidentally, I've never played a DOA game with a storyline more recent than DOA2.
Not even a DOA3 demo. So if I don't always know what you're talking about, please
make an allowance for me.

No Xbox? That's too bad. But if you keep an eye out, you can buy one at a pawn shop for about $80.

that's to a fault. learning is one thing, but you've mostly need to adapt to various styles and surroundings.
an even better option would be to "shut down"(control the match from start to finish) your opponent's advancements entirely
