Umm...just a few thing i thought i should point out and I'm sorry if it sounds rude (I'm trying not to be) but the reason why DOATEC went after Kasumi was because she won the first tournament. DOATEC was trying to design a ultimate fighter so they used the tournament as a way to gather strong fighters. after Kasumi won DOATEC probably decided to kidnap her and Hayate because they thought he was going to be leader. If someone else had won that tournament odds are Alpha-152 would have looked like that person instead.

yup, that's an accurate testimony as to her cloning. now, not to disturb the peace (lol), but i've an issue with this reasoning. altough kasumi did win the tournament, DOATEC had their sights on none other than Raidou. seeing as how he couldn't be controled by any given means, what would become DOATEC's motivation to capture/kidnap both kasumi and hayate.

if Raidou was the strongest of all ninja (DoA universe) and couldn't be controlled, then why opt for the lesser cohorts. wouldn't Hayabusa be a better insurance policy?

lol, the continuity and story-driven elemets kinda bother me....just a tad :).

I still think they were after a member of that specific clan, not simply the strongest ninja. Not really sure WHY I think that, but I do lol.

they probably wanted an "lesser ninja", lol.

I would like to offer that Kasumi was next in line behind Hayate to lead the clan. The 18th
leader of the Mugen-Tenshin-Tenjinmon clan, I think. Whether that impacted DOATEC's
decision to clone her, I don't know.

I'm not really comfortable with the whole cloning business. One thing that puzzles me
though. How can Kasumi's clone look the same age? By the time the clone had aged what,
17 years, Kasumi would be 34.

The clone seems to have an identical voice pattern too.

(In DOA2U, the clone's voice matches the selected Voice History option.)

If the clone were raised or lived in a different environment, she would likely have a
different accent, and prehaps not even speak the same language.

I know I'm getting off track, but I'm beginning to think that the character known as Hayate
may actually be his clone. I haven't played later games, has that possibility been dealt
with?

Why is it everyone seems to get into this whole "clone" argument in any game that has clones? Same thing happened with Metal Gear 3 lol. Anyway, the clone may age differently, quicker, or they may have created it so that it would grow to it's peak, it's most powerful age, quickly, and then stay there.

As for the Hayate thing, no, he's not a clone. But that's an interesting question, seeing as how both Ein AND Hayate seem to exist in the same universe, which, technically, is impossible(both Hayate's ending, and Hitomi's ending).

Yes, but you have to admit, it's pointless lol. No human has been cloned yet(thank God) and video games can do anything. They killed off Aeris. They fused Mickey Mouse and Squall(and brought back Aeris in the process). They did the impossible, and created the horrifying Drake.

Pointless or not, cloning is a serious issue, people often have an itch to discuss it.

While it is true that almost anything can happen in a video game, at some point
believability can become a concern.

Although, I already have a lot of trouble believing that a 5'2" tall Japanese woman
with approx. measurements of 36[F]-22-34 would weigh only 106 lbs.

Sometimes, even an explanation would be nice.

I remember the PSX game Metal Gear Solid. The cloning process that resulted in
both Liquid and Solid Snake was explained rather matter of factly, and clearly.

Tecmo didn't explain how DOATEC cloned Kasumi, at least not in DOA2.

From what I could tell it involved a large chamber, at least 50 gallons of water
and quite a few boxes of this stuff--

Really, cause there is no sarcasm when I say that I'd clone Kasumi. Lol.

Yes, I know about the whole cloning argument. I am a Christian, so I understand it, but I don't have anything against the cloning in games, as long the game isn't showing it as some glorious, amazing thing for humanity. Lol.

As far as realism goes, I don't mind your argument. It's the fighting in bikinis and high heels that I want to get an explanation for. Takes a real martial artist to fight in heels, balance and all.

thanx pixel, you hit the nail right on the head here. people like myself go beyond what's given in games these days (i can surely thank my 5yrs in college for that).

i don't like bashing each and every game that comes out and i don't like making members here upset at his/her beloved franchises, but there comes a point where "art" separates from "believable". while DoA4's story had a more "cinematic" flare than some of todays top fighters, there still were too many plot holes to warrant it as an actual story, and 60% of the character endings were pointless (IMO).

if we're going to add an in-depth story to anything (even DoA), we need to ready those explanations as to why, where, whom, what etc....and not half-@$$ it like some developers still do today.

cloning still makes for an highly interesting topic in either form, reality or gaming. it's only in gaming that these facts need to be explained in full detail, otherwise you'll potentially lose the interest in gamers who actually care for the story. elements.

Agreed. I love the whole Helena, DOATEC and Ninja drama but besides that Lisa is the only one (who hasnt been in the fighting games before) who had an actual good storyline. (Except her ending, I hate it and she looks like a cow in it).

The rest of the DOA characters sucks.

I'm also a Christian, and against cloning as well. I'm not really sure it should be used in
a story either. but hey twice the Kasumi, twice the fun.

I've had to put up with some things I wasn't really comfortable with (in DOA2) for the
sake of the rest of the game. The cloning business is an example.

Maybe the [sarcastic] flag wasn't correct. Seriously, if I believed in cloning, I'd certainly
pick Kasumi over Raidou any day.

:kas: :kas: :kas: :kas: :kas:

*sigh* I guess that'll have to do.

Agreed. If there's anyone I want cloned for me, it's Ayane. Not in a creapy sense, of course. It would just be handy to learn Ninjutsu from a ninja. That's all. Really. That's it.
