Ninja used things like small explosives(they created the first smoke bomb). Or are you talking about cherry bombs? I think you guys might be looking too hard into this whole ninpo thing. From what I can tell, Ninpo is simply a technique that uses Chi(Ninja Gaidenb says that the Inazuma {SP?} is a technique that concentrates Ryu's Chi, then releases as electrical energy(I think)l. As a technique, they can use them whenever they choose, no matter what the mental state. Martial artists must strive to enter a state WITHOUT anger, murdurous intent, perseverence, or anything. They are simply there, without any emotion, especially Ninja. But Team Ninja may have wanted to fancy it up.

Hollywood and modern Japan re-created the image of the Ninja as heroes. It's not true. They were outcasts, sabotage specialists or rebels. Not honorable people. They must have hated their victims.

Powerful ones at that. They simply took on whatever contracts they took. If they took emotions into their work, they would NEVER have been able to keep themselves secret. Have you ever tried to do something while angry, or with some other strong emotion? It makes you sloppy. You get slower, and you don't respond well. Martial artists(and Ninja were most DEFINATELY martial artists) strive to attain a state of Mushin, or "no mind". Why? Because thought distracts. You don't think "I hate him", or even "I have to punch now", they just do it. That's why they train for so long, to adapt the movements to muscle memory. It's the truth. When you are being hit at, reflex makes you throw your arm to block. But they train to make their arm parry. They don't think "I must parry", or they will be slower. Try it on DoA some time. Try parrying while thinking about it, then try without thinking.

Hah, thank you! I have been studying this stuff for a while now for my Iaido practice, so I have learned a bit about Samurai and ninja, and martial artists in general.

But they went after Hayate as well... The only ninjas who havent been targeted by DOATEC is Ayane and Ryu and both of them have pretty destructive abilities, especially Hayabusa. IMO it seems that they just wanted a Ninja, didnt care who just a ninja.
