Another hair color oddity (maybe this is explained in DOA3 or 4, I don't know.)

In the opening scene of DOA2 Ultimate, where Ayane and Kasumi are kids at play-
Kasumi's hair is black, while Ayane's is already purple.

To me, this implies two things-

1) Somebody started dyeing Kasumi's hair. Perhaps to change her appearance in an
effort to conceal her identity. It isn't clear who made the call in the story, but she's
still a (slightly older) kid when they show her with the trademark polished copper shade.

2) Either Ayane's hair has always been blue-purple, or it was dyed very early on in her life.

Here's the strange thing. Kasumi's reddish hair is much closer to a natural color
than Ayane's purple locks. Is it possible that Ayane was supposed to have been born
with purple hair?

The idea of natural purple hair is rather far-fetched, but unnatural hair colors seem
to be common in anime, with no hint that a given character's hair was ever
different.

Kasumi hair isn't black it looked that due to the lighting and CG quality and Ayane hair is purple. It has white streaks due to Raidou being her father. Remember DOA is anime style so anything is impossible.

CG differs form the actual game. also, you may have noticed kasumi w black hair due to possible resolution differences on your screen at home. kasumi's a red head, and always will be a redhead....but in some cases she may display a "brownish-tint" as a hair color. again, it depends on the image color resolution.

ayane has purple hair. as for the "white streaks" that KUnoichi mentioned, i've never seen this in her renders. she depicts a "shine/glosssy" tone on her haircolor as a rich texture. in fact, ayane looks nothing like her biological father at all.

I just bought a brand-new 27" regular television. I have the Xbox hooked up through
composite RCA connections. I've never had an issue with SDTV before.

I seem to remember seeing the brown highlight in her hair, but as a whole it looked
much darker to me.

Here's the thing- later in the CG, where she's flipping over the Mahjong like memory
tiles, her hair looks basically it's normal shade.

During the course of all gameplay, her hair looks very much like it does in the picture
at the top of each fan-club thread. Perhaps a little darker, but not as much as it
seems in the CG.

EDIT: Actually, it most closely resembles the picture in the board's banner.

As an aside, this monitor's gamma is set a little bit high (bright) so I sort of expect a bit
brighter colors than I would get from the same image on a TV.

I would prefer if Kasumi's hair be naturally red. It's a beautiful shade and it works well
on the character.

For some reason, it just doesn't look the same to me in that first scene. I may go
back and watch it again.

I like Houko Kuwashima more than Sakura. That voice is perfect for Kasumi ^-^

I agree
