quite the contrary. we could still keep zack funny even with talented english voice acting. whomever helms the project just needs the dedication. |

About Zack- I remember somewhere along the way that Tecmo made a big deal about Dennis Rodman's voice for Zack in DOA:XBV. I haven't ever played the game, but I've heard Rodman talk a couple of times on TV and I wasn't impressed with their choice. As Japanese goes, Bin Shimada is perfect in the role. A street punk who speaks perfect Japanese and carries the street attitude with it is absolutely cool. Zack with this Japanese voice is a tough act to follow, but I believe it can be done. I don't think D-Rod will work, though. |

of course d-rod won't work. i'm still surprised zack was inspired by d-rod. kinda feels like an insult to my people, then again it's just a game....so i shouldn't take it into that perspective. someone else can do the job better than d-rod. |

I didn't know that Zack was inspired by d-rod, and I'm very surprised. I really didn't think NBA basketball was something that Japanese people followed, at all. Certainly not enough to build a character off a moderately famous player. Tecmo's US bunch doesn't strike me as being very tight. Or rather they haven't in the past. I tried to email them a couple of years ago and at that time, the email address they had on their website bounced. I guess Tecmo and bouncing just go together. Maybe today they have it together a bit better, but I'd bet English voice acting is not high on their game agenda. |

i'm pretty sure the entire roster was inspired by a fictional or real life person. i certainly know of a couple....because it's just too obvious nothing's "original" these days sad to say, but only a small handfull of people could decipher the influences behind these characters, so in many ways they still work. |

Well, it makes sense I reckon, that they had some inspiration behind the characters. I mean, it would be very difficult to design a character with absolutely no initial direction whatsoever. I gotta ask then. What person and/or other character inspired Kasumi? I'm sure of two obvious ones. Jann-Lee and LeiFang are both IMO inspired by the best-known martial artist of the 20th Century, and likely the most talented one of our time, Bruce Lee. |

Is Mr. Itagaki the one who comes up with these characters? I find it both interesting and ironic Kasumi is not "the favorite". A lot of Tecmo's marketing of the DOA series proper in Japan has revolved around her. Why exactly I'm not sure. I noticed that the Japanese DOA3 cover features Ayane solo, which is rather unusual. |

in most cases, i believe itagaki-san comes up with some of the concepts. he may have had a huge hand in the development of the roster we know and love today, but by no means would i say he soley created each and every last person (IMO). as for kasumi, when you think of Dead or Alive, you think of kasumi. she sells the franchise and she's the character we mostly have known and played first. as for what's placed on the box covers, it may be a majority voting between the company. |

Who is "the favorite"? I guess I was a little silly for not asking that a reply ago. |

no his favorite is Kasumi if your referring to that question why he picked Hitomi for doau instead of Christie and Brad Wong he meant out of those three Hitomi is his favorite. He even picks Kasumi in tournys and I don't know if you would take this seriously but in DOAX2 when you check the Kasumi coin with Kokoro she says "Looks like Mr. Sunglasses is playing favorite....". Heh even in the G4 interview you see I forgot if it was a statue or toy but can see it in the background. http://babes.entertainment.ign.com/article...5/745624p1.html
