Why does Kasumi call Ein/Hayate Nisah and translated to english it's Hayate?
Also why doesn't everyone else calls him that and only calls him Hayate or Hayate sama?

Yeah. I think she means to call him "brother". It's like when a friend is referring to his friend's parents, he calls them "Mr." or "Mrs." [last name] while the child calls them "mom" and "dad".

I guess it implies that Hayate is her brother and that instead of calling him "Hayate", she just calls him brother. It's a confusing concept that sounds so good to be true

actually, what kasumi said is 'Niisan' = ni-i-sa-n.
and she also said at the other scene, 'Hayate niisan'.

usually, if somebody has two or more bro. then, they say like that.
tom niisan, bob niisan....

but i believe hayate is one and only bro. so it's really weired she said 'hayate niisan'. in this case, no need to add last name.

i dunno why tecmo's translated 'niisan' to 'Hayate'.
this is also really hard to understand for me as a japanese native.

There are lots of sloppy translations in DOA. They translate "tadaima" many different ways in DOAX. Many characters say the same thing but they give different English translations. I think that they just try to translate to a level that everyone can understand easily. I mean, in American we don't call our older brothers "brother." It's strange that they cut out culture difference by offering loose translations, yet at the same time they provide only Japanese diolauge.

I know where you're coming from. Seems like if you left "brother" and "sister" alone too long you'd have an incestuous situation. Of course, they never really say that she likes him that way, but it's implied. And what about Ayane? The instruction book said that she "admires" Hayate but wouldn't admit it. Isn't he her half brother?
