Of course, I'm big into FPS games, so I know a classic when I run into it. For the people here that play shooting games, appreciate trend starters, and have a nice rig, I urge you to try out the Quake 2 Evolved mod. I promise the effects look better than a lot of new games, and it's only getting better.

And when this is done, check out OverDose, which will be based on their engine. Most of the good stuff is in their forums, though they're probably still down sue to an f'up at GameSpy.
