The Silent Hill series has always been my favourite survival horror series, and it is probably the greatest horror series ever to come out so far. Why? Konami created it. As we all know the Japanese are masters of horror. (Remember Tecmo's Project Zero?) If you are a fan, which is your favourite and why? Choices: Silent Hill Silent Hill 2: Inner Fears/Restless Dreams Silent Hill 3 Silent Hill 4: The Room Here's my verdict: Silent Hill: 9.5/10 Silent Hill 2: Inner Fears/Restless Dreams:9.7/10 Silent Hill 3: 10.0/10 Silent Hill 4: The Room: 10.0/10 Silent Hill 3 pretty much matches Silent Hill 4, but it has much more frightening sound effects. If Silent Hill 4 had this, it would be much better. The soundtrack to SH4 is spectacular, especially with the opening music, that is better than SH3. It is better graphic-wise too, but if you play SH3 and have the nerves, stomach and sanity to play all the way through it, you will see how the sound effects are more frightening than SH4. The best sound effects lie in the Chapel chapter of the game and the Subway, so keep playing. So what do you think? |

I also love Silent Hill games & I own all 4. I haven't had a chance to get far in SH 4. So far, my fav. SH games are in this order: SH 1 SH 3 SH 4 SH 2 Maybe this order will change once I get to finish SH 4. Man this game is so creepy...

Silent Hill 2 literally almost made me krap myself. (im preaty sure it was 2) Pyrimid Head freaked me out! SH4 was friggin hilarous! That guy is an oblivious idiot! little advice: if you can crawl through a hole in your bathroom made by a giant demon worm living in a nearby train station, MOVE MORON!!! |

Me too. RE4 is going to be tight. Here is my favorite SH titles in order. SH1 SH4 SH3 SH2 Silent Hill 2 got boring in my oppionion. Silent hill 1 is still a classic and can't never be beaten. They should make a PS2 remake of SH1 in my oppionion. |

My favorites in this order: -Silent Hill -Silent Hill 3 -Silent Hill 4 -Silent Hill 2 Silent Hill: This IS an original. Original titles will NEVER be beaten by its sequals.....great story, phycological fear factor, and the creepy sounds made this game simply put....wonderfully frightening. Silent Hill 3: Direct sequal to the first installment. Not only is this just as good as the original, i was drawn into "heather's" character. The mess that took place during harry's runthrough now falls upon his own daughter. Yes, a very good and entertaining sequal. Silent Hill 4: I bumped this one up to third mainly because of the 8-way controls that were given. Gone are the radio controls. Other elements such as the weapon charge, "cleansing" your room and keeping your partner alive as much as possible made for a somewhat different yet similar game in completion. Silent Hill 2: Last but certainly not least. Silent Hill 2 paved the way for even more frightnening visuals than its predecessor, Silent Hill. Not entirely a direct sequal to the first installment, yet still producing the same eerie feeling as the one before it. Silent Hill, trully a place for the confident......or the dammed...... On another note, yes......Resident Evil 4 IS going to OWN on many levels!

Well, nothing could bother me today, two days ago I managed to find a copy of Silent Hill 3's Original Soundtrack. Man, this is difficult to find. I found it on EBay, the only place I saw it in. Brand new: £17.95. Modest price, but it is VERY rare so I guess it is acceptable. If you want on the best place is EBay, or Amazon.com. It's a shame, Konami have discontinued the soundtracks and have closed down their website for them: www.konami-style.com. I must say, the soundtrack is very good, and the special effects from the game are a bonus. I had to start over on SH4, as I made a foolish mistake of ignoring all the Swords Of Obedience, and now the victims swarm me! I am only half way through SH1, and it is really good. By the way, does anyone know a good way of killing the first monsters (flying bat-like things?) I just can't hit them!  P.S. There are rumours of Silent Hill coming to the big screen, so keep your fingers crossed and wait for it. After playing all the Resi. Evil series out now, I definitly prefered the Silent Hill series. |

You don't kill the winged-monsters, you just run from them. They're there just to annoy and sap health away. Disregard all other Resident Evil titles. The only ones that should be categorized with Silent Hill is... Resident Evil: Remake Resident Evil 0 Resident Evil 4 (comming soon) These three should be your only concern....

OK, Thanks. In all the game, what was your favourite or most frightening part? Me: SH1: Not far enough SH2: Not far enough, only in apartments SH3: Chapel (Extremely scary, holding the games grotesque ending) SH4: Water Prison World and Hospital (The Water Prison World was evil and the wheelchairs and the roof spike trap in the Hospital were incredibly scary) P.S. Remember the monster turning the circular handle and the two human-type things hanging above it in SH3 in the start of the opening sequence? Has anyone figured out what this REALLY is? (Hint: In the Chapel, at the end of a halllway, you can see this with slower moving human figures. |
