June 03, 2004 - Though Guilty Gear X2 #Reload isn't scheduled to ship until September, we've already got our hands on a feature-complete build of the game. It's incredibly rare that we have the chance to play a game for four months before it comes out, so we're gonna use the opportunity to make sure you learn all you can about GGX2.

There are 20 playable character from the moment you pop this $20 disc into your Xbox. Who are these characters? Most have been in previous Guilty Gear games, a few are original to X2. In any event, you may not know any of these ladies, gents, and demons, so we're gonna provide the introductions. Over the new few months, we'll be showing off each character, with a brief bio, some thoughts on what makes them cool to play (because every character in the game is cool to play), and give you new screens and movies of the spotlighted character.

Profile
Subject claims to have jumped into this era from the 20th century. Although this claim is unsubstantiated, he is confirmed to carry certain vital information on past events. His skill with fire helped him earn a spot in the second Sacred Knights tournament. Considering his high physical strength and the danger his unfettered knowledge presents, he should be handled with extreme caution.

What Makes Axl Cool
Axl has a long reach thanks to his snazzy Kusarigama, which is essentially a combination of a scythe and a flail. He's much better for long-ranged attacks using the Kusarigama can whip enemies, "catch" attacks, and perform one of the flashier Instant Kill moves in Guilty Gear X2. But beyond the weapon, Axl has one of the more overt rockstar attitudes and his five different costumes drastically change his appearance, but it's the original (pictured below) that still makes me all weak in the knees.
