This is great news for fighting game fans, I'm sure Namco will be bringing this to Xbox Live -------------------------- According to a string of reports springing up towards the end of last week, it would appear that Namco has scheduled this May's E3 show to expose the eagerly-awaited fifth instalment in the best-selling Tekken series. The game is expected to be shown for the System 246 arcade board, as well as PlayStation 2 and Xbox iterations, although a home console release isn't expected until the end of the year. Interestingly, reports suggest that the series is in for something of a major overhaul, with network play apparently emerging as the dominant USP in number five. Namco declined to comment on any speculation, though from what we can gather, the super-mainstream 3D battler will be making its debut at the May showcase. http://www.spong.com/detail/news.asp?prid=6332 |

Tekken 4 lacked gameplay, and I'm not sure about this one to tell you the truth.
:P I think DOA has much better variety, and is way more fun. The last Tekken game I saw myself playing was Tekken Tag Tournament, and after that I lost interest in the series. On the other hand its a good thing its coming to the Xbox; I'm sure many people will like it, and if it has Live compatibility thats another plus point. Anyways, thanks for the good post Asura.

Man again system 246!?!?! It would be better to run on a new system! System 246 (PS2 based) is old techicaly (So does PS2)
I hope that T5 will go on Next-Gen consoles! Tekken 4 was nice but it had a shortage of new charas and new fighting styles! I hope that T5 will overcome these negatives! |

But system 246 can not give better graphics! I'd say that DOA3 will have better graphics than T5, if it comes out on System 246. But in terms of gameplay anything is possible, so perhaps T5 will rule! :woot: |

I don't personally think Tekken will grace the Xbox this generation. But you never know. As for the System 246, it's more powerful than the Xbox. It's based on PS2 technology, but it is far more powerful than a PS2. That's why it's a System 246 and not simply a PS2 in an arcade cabinet. It has a lot more RAM, a lot more processing power, and it can produce better graphics than they Xbox. Since it's based on the PS2, it's a lot easier to port it over to the PS2 than any other system. That's why Namco usually makes a PS2 code, then ports to other systems from there. It's a lot easier than porting System 246 code directly to the Xbox. As far as Tekken goes... the game requires much more skill than DOA. Most people who like DOA don't like Tekken because it's not as user friendly as DOA. You really have to know what you're doing to play Tekken the way it was meant to be played. In DOA you don't need that in-depth knowledge of the gameplay to have fun with it. I'm not saying one game is better than the other because everyone has their own opinons, but Tekken has more gameplay depth and doesn't cater to casual gamers as well. I personally find Tekken to be the superior game, but that's just my opinion. |

That' true. System 246 has more RAM than PS2, but chihiro (xbox-based) and triforce (GC-based) have more RAM as well. Every arcade system is more advanced than the console system that it's based-on. But I still don't think that System 246 can produce better graphics than Xbox. Otherwise DOA3 would be ported to PS2.

DOA3 was on the Xbox because Xbox is the most powerful console. The System 246 is NOT a PS2 and DOA3 was never an arcade game. The System 246 is an arcade board and it is more powerful than any of the current consoles. DOA3 being on Xbox has nothing to do with the power of the System 246, just like the Triforce and other system-based arcade boards have nothing to do with DOA3 being on the Xbox. The PS2 can do DOA3. If it can do GT4, there's no doubt that it can handle DOA3. However, even if it couldn't handle DOA3, the System 246 is much more powerful than a PS2. You can't compare the two because it's not just a better version of the PS2, it's just based on PS2 architecture to make porting games from arcade to console that much easier. |

- Wow, never thought I'd see the day =P Well, I guess it's good change, right? T4 (kinda) let me down, it slowed down a bit IMO (...or at least Xiao did at least o.0) |

Oh man... Ling was faster in T4 than she was in TTT. You need to watch some high level play. Her back spin is insane. I wish I still had some of my T4 match vids to show you. <_< |

Xiao was the reason I didn't take the game seriously, when I found out she had that cheap air combo like Cassandra's infinite ( but they fixed hers ), I just lost my interest |

You realize that half the characters have an infinite in Arena, Underground, and the PS2 only stage (don't recall it's name)? Most of the infinites weren't easy to do. You have to get the other character in the spot, with the right angle. Then you had to know when to stop your juggle so your opponent would hit the wall and re-stun. DOA3 has just as many infinites if not more than Tekken 4. |

- Hmm, well, it's been like a year since I last touched T4 =P I've seen some vids of in T4 compared to TTT, she jus seemed to've looked faster (in some of her AoP attacks) but damn, those cart-wheels and front lay-out attacks are insane! |
