We are a very active and friendly group that welcomes anyone from anywhere in the world who has an interest in Radio, regardless of their level of experience, their equipment, their location, or their radio preference. We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site. The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once. You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. This means you are limited to certain areas of the board and there are some features you can't use. Despite the weather, I took a trip up to the top of Waun Rydd in the Brecon Beacons today 769 m (2,523 ft) - sun, rain, hail and high winds, I had it all today Quite a trek too with 1.5hrs there with around the same back - it'd probably been easier to do the London Marathon instead. Unfortunately we had Olga on Ch32 for the Sunday DX, but did land some tidy contacts, with the best one being Phil Kingfisher over in Buckinghamshire (120miles). PMR446 was excellent with several contacts into Swindon (70 miles) and a monster 89 mile contact with Wayne CT148 on the Coombe Gibbet on a Goodmans 0.5w handie (bit of a bugger though as we thought we'd gone over the ton on this QSO!). Should have some video coming soon, but here's some pics for now ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Well done Gary! The WX here in South Wales was pretty disgusting at times yesterday, so you did very well to make the trip. There can certainly be no claim of you being a "Fair Weather DXer"! It is a shame that overnight camping is not permitted* in the Brecon Beacons National Park as that'd be a hell of a view to wake up to. * = It is not permitted without formal, written, authorisation which involves ten yards of Paperwork, agreement six committees, two-sub-committees and a quango, and signed permission slips from all four grandparents. |

Thanks for the comments and good luck for those looking to give it a go soon - I also spent a couple of months preparing for the higher ones. We are lucky in the UK with locations - our mountains are small in comparison to those in many countries, but are difficult enough to be a challenge and you don't have to be a budding Chris Bonington to get to the top of them Here's a couple of vids from the day: First one up is the location and second is the 89 mile QSO with Wayne CT148 http://youtu.be/FltHpDPeFhs http://youtu.be/n1LeHxWSECc |
