Hi Jason lots of good 2m sets around at reasonable prices better off with a 2m/70cms they can be found for around £50 upwards depending what you want a lot more if you ssb.As for a tuner the little ldg z100 is a competant one for around £70 upwards for a good second hand one or go upmarket with a mfj intellitune for a bit more both these things come up on here quite often good luck with your choice SD

My most favorite I had was an Icom IC251E.. I loved that radio! There is one up for grabs here... http://www.radioworld.co.uk/catalog/shopping_cart.php?osCsid=9406110d80b67195de64ad56dc4f69d9 used to have a FT-480r set up at work in the 80's. It was great. If you can find a good one, I am sure you will enjoy it! I have a Kenwood TMG-707 dual band. I bought that new in 1995. Still works a treat! Edited by Jeff66, 21 Mar 2012 - 17:20.

Hope this helps Mmmmmm...just noticed G1LNA does not have an Email on there ...sorry ( I could pass your info if you are interested ? ) Edited by ColdZero, 21 Mar 2012 - 19:12.

Ditto the FT-2800. Simple, solid mono band radio, 65 watts out, massive display and cheap. Mine was brand new, boxed and complete and from a trader for £110. |

Just a heads-up. Nothing against the LG-Z100 but do note that it'd be no use on VHF or UHF if that's what you're looking for. The Z100 will handle up to 125w from 160m through to 6m |

Hi I am selling a MFJ Intellituner 200w which I used with my 840 which I have just sold so surplus to requirements, if of any use to you. I have it listed on this site for £110 inc of postage but the item is of no use to me and sitting here doing nothing, so if your budget is tight I am sure we can come to a deal if you are interested, let me know. My post is here: http://s3.zetaboards.com/copythat/topic/7559735/1/#new Edited by BlackAdder, 22 Mar 2012 - 20:54.

Well the yaesu Ft-840 has turned out to be scam by the looks of it.. Totally ripped off...... So for the time being i will not be able to use the HF bands.. ...So PI**ED off that a fellow radio entusiast would do something like this... .. I picked up a tiny Kenwood TM231e ...Which works well and was cheap..... So Aerials up foundation passed But will only be able to use 2m for the forseeable future.. ....Till i can raise some funds for an old HF set.........Thanks all for your replies.....Jason
